How long before I notice a difference?

Hi so I'm new to mfp :) I've lost 5lbs in the last 2 weeks (I don't know if that's good?) I'm 5'4 and now weigh 120 lbs and I don't really feel any different. I don't want to be unhealthily thin I guess I just want to get to like 110 ish? So how long does it take to notice a difference? And will I actually look any different with a total weight lose of 15lbs? Also do you think I'll reach my goal weight (or maybe like 112) by the end of August? Thanks :)

Everyone notices the difference at different times -- it depends on many factors, including the distribution of weight on your body. Losing 15 pounds should be noticeable though.

Since you're already at a healthy weight, it's very unlikely you'll be able to lose eight to ten pounds in a month. I'm currently at 116 (at your height) and weight loss slows down the less you weigh. We need fewer calories, so our logging becomes much more important. And since we need fewer calories, it's impossible for us to healthfully create the type of deficit needed to lose eight to ten pounds in a month.

I think whether or not you'd notice a difference depends on both your body and your perception. I'm also 5'4, currently 123lbs. I got down to 112lbs last year, then over a few months I couldn't calorie count accurately and went up to 129lbs, but had no idea until I weighed myself months later. Even now, looking at photos of me at 129lbs and 112lbs, I can't see any difference. When I look at many before and after pictures of other people I can't see any difference, they may as well be pictures taken 5 minutes apart, but there are always loads of comments saying 'you look so different!!!!!!', so yeah, it really depends on you.

I can say that 15lbs in 5 weeks isn't going to happen, at your weight you should be aiming for about 0.5lbs/week. When I went from your current weight to 112lbs I lost at an average of 0.7lbs/week.

Well pretty much yeah, I notice the most amount of fat around my thighs and stomach so I just want there to be less fat there :)

If you want less body fat, that's even more reason not to rush things. Rapid weight loss tends to target your muscle mass and leave more fat behind. This could leave you even more unhappy with how your body looks because your body fat percentage could be higher even though you weigh less.

I noticed that I can now take off shorts without unbuttoning them which were too tight 15 pounds ago. I'm more than two inches taller and a lot heavier than you so 15 # will be more noticeable on you.
