Current and goal BMI?

So what's your current BMI and what are you aiming for? Or are you completely happy with how you are now? My BMI is about 20.5 (was 21.9) and I'm aiming for around 19-19.5, I don't want to go below that as 18.5 is considered underweight.

My BMI is ~24. I don't have an overall BMI goal as BMI is not meant to be used that way.
Between this thread and your "1200 calories is too much to eat thread" I am concerned with your thought process WRT weight and healthy eating.0 -

I've recently been put on medication which causes me to have a lower appetite, I'm not really doing it on purpose, I guess my body is just used to a small amount of food

depending on how much muscle mass you have OP your goal BMI can be underweight.0

But you said you were aiming for a low BMI.0 -

Your BMI is already at the lower end of the healthy range. You are aiming for even lower. You claim that if you eat more than 1200 calories you will gain the weight you have lost. Having a lower appetite does not mean that your TDEE, or even BMR, have reduced to such a level that eating at the minimum healthy caloric intake for females is going to cause you weight gain.0 -
My goal is to be overweight by BMI standards while being 10% bodyfat.0

My BMI is about 19.8. I'm happy with that number. I'd like a little less fat and a lot more muscle, though.0

My goal is just to get to a normal BMI. I don't have an ending BMI goal. I'll know I'm done when I get there.yopeeps025 wrote: »depending on how much muscle mass you have OP your goal BMI can be underweight.
Nobody's goal should be to be underweight. Even if you're not muscular, your goal should not be underweight.
In fact, this 18 or 19 you've selected...it might be too low for you. Those BMI ranges take all kinds of things into account. If you're showing up as underweight, you are. But you could show up in the Normal range and still not weigh enough.
I strongly advise you to see a doctor about your weight. If the meds are making you lose your appetite, there are things that can help. And absolutely speak to them about what is and isn't a healthy weight for you.0 -
I don't think thats what @yopeeps025 meant...0

I'm thinking he means that the projected goal the OP is seeking, is underweight.0 -

But OP should still see her doctor for a variety of reasons.

My goal is to be overweight by BMI standards while being 10% bodyfat.
My goal (at present) is to be 20-22% bodyfat.
Until I gain some muscle mass, I estimate I would need a BMI of about 20-21 for that to be the case (my BMI is just over 22 now). However, I don't much care about weight or BMI (although for me the BMI range seems to line up reasonably well with what I think a good, healthy weight is). I would ideally like to be around 20-22% bodyfat (depending on how I look within that range) at a higher overall weight.
My more significant, although not unrelated goal, is to run and bike faster and to lift heavier weights (swimming faster would be nice too). Sadly, these goals are a little bit in conflict, probably, but since I'm such an amateur at everything not significantly so.0 -

I'm pretty sure that what yopeeps was saying is that OP's stated goal weight might actually be underweight for OP, depending on what OP's muscle mass is.0 -

I've given up on cycling faster. I realize it just isn't in my goals. I love riding, but have no intention of being 6' tall and weighing 140 lbs
I have pretty much realized that I am just going to lift heavy things, and cycle a lot cause I love it, and whatever happens with my body, happens.

If someone has a lot of muscle mass then going into the normal range could put them at normal weight but low body fat % which is still a health risk.
My original goal was to be 180 at 12% body fat on a 5"6' frame which puts me at overweight BMI. I don't think anyone will be calling me fat at that goal.
What we don't know is OP muscle mass. So yes there goal could be underweight at even a normal BMI.0 -

But to be fair, "fat" and "overweight" don't mean the same things.0 -
At 5'3" 135lbs- I believe my current BMI to be 24
With my goal weight of 110, the BMI would be 19
And no 110 at 5'3" would not be underweight, ergo a 19 BMI would not be underweight0 -
Editted because it posted before I was done lol

Please explain how it could be, muscle mass, etc

My BMI will always hover around 26 at my preferred (healthy) weight. Meh.
I don't make goals for flawed measurements.0 -

The point is it could be for someone, depending on what their bodyfat percentage was.
Edit: oh, didn't notice your edit.
According to this less than 14% bodyfat has risks for a woman, for example: http://pennshape.upenn.edu/files/pennshape/Body-Composition-Fact-Sheet.pdf
(I'd think there may be some variation too--if a woman loses her period, that's a bad sign.)
At 110, you'd have less than 13% bodyfat if you had a lean body mass of 96. That's not particularly uncommon or high for a woman of 5'3.0 -
