I am set to take in 1,610 calories/day. I'm in the process of losing my "baby weight" and have lost 40 lbs! I'm super proud! But lately, I've put on 2 or 3 lbs. Each day it's a little more. I usually just weigh once a week but seeing the scale go up has me puzzled. I am always under my calorie goal, work out 3 days a week. I always thought calories We're calories. But, I've noticed I've been going over on my fat. Could that be the cause?

Natural fluctuations, water weight, hormones, eating more than you burn.

Eating fat doesn't make you fat. Eating more calories than you burn is what makes you gain weight.

If you are gaining weight from week to week, then you are eating more than you think or you aren't burning as many calories as you think. I don't know what size you are, but some people only need 1610 calories per day to maintain their weight. Some need even less. If your goal calories is very close to your maintenance calories, it is very easy to overeat.

How long has this gain been taking place? Are you using a food scale?

It's only been recently. I've lost 40 lbs so far, only 5 or 6 lbs left to my goal weight! I'll be up 2 lbs, down a lb. A slight change up or down, not the steady decrease like I've seen for the past months. But, not a steady increase either.

Being a woman (30) I'm sure hormones, water, etc could play a role. Yes, I do use a scale. And measuring cups. We weight and measure everything haha

Normal daily fluctuations. Ignore them and keep up the great work.

Yeah...sounds like normal fluctuations, which can still be a little scary. I was down 5 lbs yesterday, but hit my glutes hard at the gym (sore) and I was up 2 today. No worries, though because I know I'm staying in a deficit.

Thank you! I appreciate the encouragement and confirmation of my original thoughts. I always have calories left over at the end of the day. As a full time instructor and mom, working out 3 days a week and using MFP has helped me stay on track.

I'm also going to weigh once a week, like I did before. I was nearing my goal and weighed more often to see results - bc I'm excited! Thanks again
