I don't really take them any more but spin is cool. Sometimes a boot camp class is okay but I would never do one now. I used to like cardio kick boxing as well.0

I like the boxing class. But especially when one particular instructor takes it because he incorporates martial-arts style "stuff" (stregthening exercises etc) and it isn't just one of those cardio wimpy punch to pads type classes - it's almost the real deal (without punching each other of course!)0

TRX! I'm not quite ready to start lifting. I can see my muscles growing with TRX. I'm viewing it as prep for a lifting program.0

Goodness, this is a tough one! I really love the boxing class we have at work. I also enjoy the Tacfit classes as well. Both are so different from each other which makes them both my favorites.0

I don't do classes anymore but I used to do Kettlebells, Body Pump and Body Combat

So far I haven't found one that I love. I went for kettlebells once, and there was too much floor action (planks, pushups, kneeling, etc.) which I wasn't expecting. Spinning is fun if the music and instructor are good, but that almost never happens when I'm available for it. Tried beginner yoga once and couldn't see what I was supposed to be doing, so I followed other people and probably did it wrong because I felt like a truck had run over me at the end of the 45-minute class. I've done a couple of cardio classes that I really liked for elderly people like me, but they are always in the middle of the day when I'm working so I can rarely make them. This Saturday I'm going to try a cardio class which is in the pool. I talked to the instructor yesterday (Saturday) and it sounds like it's a really fun class. Zumba - again, depends on the instructor. Found a great one and had a lot of fun for three weeks, then she quit. The replacement expected us to practically do cartwheels. At least all the classes, like them or not, at the Y are free0

Aqua fit is my staple
Belly dance my fun
And Zumba my silly
Love them all because they keep me supple and moving.
Women on weights was good to get past my fear of lifting in the gym, and re enforced I only have to lift heavy for me to see results.

That's funny. I started lifting because TRX seemed too intimidating.

Dodger, just replied on your other thread about Zumba!
Didn't see this post first.
Yes we have guys and they love it.
We also have guys in the aqua fit, including my fella. He saw how I was benefiting from it, and switched out one of his runs to aqua. It really helps with flexabiliy and balance. It is also low impact so good for those starting out, a little heavier, or have joint and mobility problems.
That being said, it is a drop- in class, so though there a number of regulars, the size and make-up of the class is always changing. 20- 80 yr olds, both sexes, though mostly women, and the age is 40+ dominant ( though by no means exclusively so)
Cheers, h.0 -

There are no guys in my Zumba class. My husband sees me do some of the moves at home from time to time and he's assured me he would never, EVER be in attendance lol. Unless booty shaking is your thing, I'd steer clear.
Body Pump is a great class for both sexes.0 -
Pole is my favourite fitness type class, but that's not actually at my gym. Body Pump is my favourite gym class.0

Bootcamp, boxing, strength & conditioning, cycle and kettlebell.0

All I do is spin and sometimes yoga. I really like spin, it kicks my a** so good.0
