Does your job make you eat?

Especially in this economy, I know a lot of us are dealing with job-related stress. Any tips for calming down without using food as a treat?

It's hard for me as I work in a Fast Food Restaurant.... lol0 -
Find other ways to deal with it, just take a walk or something else to relax0

Why would eating help combat stress? Vigorous exercise is probably the best, with a good fight and maybe some marijuana close behind, not that I recommend that...0

I switched jobs and the weight just went off- mainly down to eating healthier and less. In the last job, it was random hours and overtime and late nights/early mornings and it would be food-on-the-go and Starbucks hot chocolates and muffins and sugar throughout the day to keep me awake. Plus it was mainly central London located and there was no microwave and no kitchen (no sink and they'd fill the kettle in the bathroom!! ew) so my colleagues and I would often grab a Starbucks and always go out for lunch. That combined with the stress made me pile it on.
I am still working in central London, but it's not a sweat shop anymore and there's a kitchen and they offer all employees free fruit.
What I tend to do is snack throughout the day and have a lot of water to fill my tummy.0 -
Yes!! Stressful work enviorment. [As i posted asking healthier snacks lol] But am gonna take the ideas listed to munch on healthier snacks, like nuts & popcorn0

forgot to add in my previous note... if you can change jobs, do it. It sounds like you are not happy and maybe you do not know it?
I know it's not easy in today's world, so just do something to prep yourself mentally. I have found exercise helps me feel better physically and mentally. I'm more creative and have more engergy too. But also, get plenty of sleep. Lack of sleep with cause bad eating habits.0 -
I get it ..and the only way I can get by is if I don't have food around me. I bring in snacks but I keep them hidden in the break area.. I try drinking diet coke or water when I'm munchy .. or go to the bathroom, walk for a minute, then get my head back into work. If that doesn't help, I jump on here and read some posts. Those keep my mind out of stress eating..
If I'm home, I get out of the kitchen for at least 10 minutes. By then, cravings have gone away..0 -
Sometimes from boredom or to be sociable food issues come up at work - you just have to be prepared, and have stuff on hand you can feel good about snacking on. Carrots are good - something about the crunching gets some frustration out0
