Hello all I was just wondering if anyone uses this armband.

My Polar heart rate monitor recently broke, and I'm looking for something new to track my calories burned.

I have read that you are supposed to wear this armband all day. What I'm wondering is, can you use it to figure out your TDEE? If you wear it all day and it tells you how many calories you've burned...

I know that the results would depend on whether you exercise or not on a given day, so you would probably have to get an average over a week's period, at least.

Thoughts???

I've had a BodyMedia device for years and I love it--the most accurate device made. Unfortunately, Jawbone bought the company and they no longer provide accessories like armbands, so if yours breaks, you're SOL.

Yes, the device will tell you how many calories you burn in a day. I like that it can also tell how many calories I burn in a lifting session, which other monitors can't. I'm able to tailor my eating to my activity on a daily basis, so on days when I'm super active and burn a lot of calories I get to eat a lot, too.

Thank you so much, your response was very helpful!

I don't understand what you mean though ... Jawbone bought it, and they're not willing to fix it if it breaks?

There is the device itself, and the armband it snaps into. It comes with an armband, but if yours breaks, you can't buy it on the webpage anymore. You have to go searching on eBay, etc.

Jawbone bought the company and discontinued the body media stuff. If you go to the bodymedia website and click shop it redirects to the Jawbone shop were they only sell Up bands.
