Ok, I have MFP buddies who share my stats, MFP buddies who swim like me and MFP buddies who's posts I admire, but I'd REALLY like to round out my support network (and other's) with military peeps who just GET our lifestyle and each other! (Forgive me if somebody beat me to a group like this; but I haven't seen one yet). Feel free to add me as a friend, just include a quick message. I hope we can all support each other through not just the MFP challenges, but provide a sounding board for all those other things we have in common. So far, just one rule: even though it's pretty much inherent to our nature, no bashing branches, POG/Grunt status, etc. Derogatory slang for females (wookie, Oki-queen syndrome, hat mattress, red light special, Iraqi 10 = stateside 2) will definitely not be tolerated :P
I served in the Marine Corps as a corrections specialist (no deployments; it was very competitive for those in our MOS to get attached to 2nd FSSG to deploy, maybe 10 bodies each year and at that time they refused to send females) from 2/'00-4/'06 and was medically retired with a VA rating of 80%. I met my husband while in (he was my combat water survival instructor trainer who got to drown me for 3 wks before asking me out graduation day). Now I do the SAHM (stay-at-home-mom) thing while he is active guard reserve with the CO ARNG. It gives him the military lifestyle he craves with the stability for our family that I crave. After his 8 years and my 6, we deserve to kick back a bit

Thanks to everyone so far! With 50-60 views I'm surprised we didn't have more responses; usually people won't look unless they feel it somehow applies to them. There's got to be more of us out there0

Just want to say thank you to all of you who serve or did serve!!! Especially today, the day after Memorial Day, not just then.0

I am a Disabled Veteran (60% - messed up feet, ankles, knees) and served in the Army in the late 80's. DH is active duty Navy stationed in Norfolk, VA while I live in OK (long story). So it would be nice to have any support from fellow veterans, and not just for weight loss.
Thank you Swimgoddess for starting this thread! :flowerforyou:0 -

Yep! Absolutely. The thread title cut me off on "dependents", but you (ok, I've qualified myself now for 5 years) live the lifestyle as much as we do0 -

Darn tootin'! Military families are as much veterans as anyone who's put on a uniform. *says the Navy Brat, Navy Vet, ex-Navy wife"... even if the ex hadn't been so Ex worthy, I couldn't have handled that version of service.... it probably would have been harder, come to think of it.0 -
