3 day diet/ military diet - help, advice & experience

I am not normally a fan of these types of short term diet, but I have a wedding next week and would just like to feel a little bit better about myself while there. I have just messed up the last few weeks, and was hoping to be 3 pound lighter, but instead 3 pound heavier. (I have got a 2 year old, a 9 month old and trying to run my own business, so I'm not beating myself up about it :-) )
I started this today, and with a two day break where I eat sensibly, I am going to do it twice before the wedding on 22 Aug.
I was wondering what sort of results people have had with this diet. I have a stone and a half to loose long term, (post baby weight) to get back to 10st 7lb, from the 12st I am currently (already lost a half stone).
I'll probably go to calorie counting after the wedding, with a lean on higher protein content.
On the second day it says to have 2 hot dogs with your evening meal. I am really not a fan of processed food and was wondering if anyone thought it would be ok to swap it for lean chicken breast of equivalent calorie content. I am unsure if the fact that the sausages are a bit fatter are supposed to do something to your metabolism and therefore essential, or if they are supposed to be a treat?
Also I have swapped the ice-cream for some low fat yogurt with the banana this evening. I can only see that less sugar and fat is a good thing?
I ate the apple that was supposed to be with my evening meal as a snack this afternoon, as I generally lose weight better if I eat little and often, but again don't want to mess the whole thing up.
Also I am not a fan of bread. i find it stodgy and would rather get rid of the toast and crackers full stop. Does anyone know of a suitable wheat free alternative? not wheat free bread, but maybe rice cakes to equivalent calorie content?

Make sure your dress fits, treat yourself to a spa day, and don't risk feeling like crap during the event because of an overly restrictive diet.0

I don't think there's a danger of "messing the whole thing up." This is just another (silly) fad diet. Sorry. Nothing magical about it.

I honestly don't know why I bothered. I came here for support, not to be made to feel like crud. If the majority of people that just posted, generally post in such a harsh manner, without even reading the initial post properly, I think you should reconsider.
People generally are not in a great place confidence wise when trying to lose weight, and reaching out is actually a big thing. If you can't take a few seconds to re-read your post to ensure it bolsters individuals rather than knocking them down, than my advice is don't bother. Maybe you can go and be-friend Katie Hopkins instead.0 -

OP, if a diet plan is full of foods you don't like, you may want to choose another plan. Or you may just want to eat at a calorie deficit, which is how weight loss is actually generated. You don't have to eat hot dogs or ice cream or crackers to lose weight. You don't need any gimmicks or fads.0

So people who are trying to protect you from a short term terrible idea in order to be more successful at a long term goal are not supportive because they aren't telling you what you want to hear?
These forums are not your friends who tell what you want to hear. No, these forums are way better than that...they tell you what you NEED to hear.
You get tough love on these forums. Just know a lot of it comes from a good place and just because it isn't telling you what you want to hear, or isn't sugarcoated to make it easier to hear, doesn't mean each person who responds isnt trying to help you.0 -
You aren't going to get much support for following a diet plan that is under 1,000 calories a day.0

@rsetford It is actually against the posting rules to promote diets such as the poorly named "military diet". Extremely unhealthy for you which is why you are getting the response, because posters on this site care and losing weight at the expense of health is simply not worth it.0

I'm pretty sure a toddler came up with this nonsense diet and someone posted it as a joke. Hot dogs, ice cream? Come on now. No one could take that seriously as a way to lose weight.
I get where you're coming from. I've felt a little desperate myself lately. But it sounds like the swaps you're proposing are a lot healthier than this nonsense diet. Log them - eat at a deficit - eat at least 1200 a day. Buy some spanx if you need to.0 -
If you are looking for short term results, I'd suggest just doing one of those wraps. I usually do one before I go to a big event or something just for a confidence boost. It only lasts a day or two, but it does help to make you look slimmer..
Doing a crash diet usually just makes me feel crummy for a big event...0 -

OP, this is a crash diet that will leave you feeling like crap. You are not going to lose a noticeable amount of fat in one week regardless. My advice would be to try to eat low sodium and drink lots of water over the next week to avoid carrying any extra water weight. Then go to the mall and buy a good pair of Spanx or the like. You will look and feel much better if you are healthy and energetic than if you are starving and tired.
I think it would be really unsupportive of us to not say something when we know what you are trying will just make you feel worse and will not make you look slimmer. I'm sorry if that's not what you wanted to hear. Good luck with your long term weight loss goals, and I hope you have fun at the wedding...0 -
Sorry. I don't believe in crash diets. I believe in healthy lifestyles. You made mistakes. Be halt with yourself. Your health is more important. Just eat healthy until then because it'll change you're mindset about yourself

Do you want support losing weight or validation on a bad plan? I'd be happy to support you in a plan that will have a good chance in succeeding. I can't validate a bad idea like the military diet.0

and there's a lot of people here who've been there done that...tried this stupid thing and that stupid thing to lose weight...perhaps you should pay heed to people who've...ya know...been there and done that and finally got their *kitten* together.
there's a lot of people here who've been very successful in their quest to lose weight and keep it off...they tend to be worth listening to regardless of whether you think the message is harsh.0 -
If you want to lose weight quick, just go low carb the next several days.. change your macro profile to 15% carbs, 25% protein and 60% fat. It would be better than doing this crappy low calorie starvation diet. The only downside to the low carb is, you might get carb flu by the time you get to the wedding... but you will be a few lbs less.

Well we have to agree to disagree then. They work great for me for short term results...
I use that "Fat Girl 6 Pack" stuff. Lather it on pretty generously, wrap some saran wrap on top and then wrap a couple ace bandages around that. I usually then sleep with it on over night. Each bottle is good for about 4 wraps so it comes to about $8-$10 per wrap. Not too expensive in my opinion, but I understand you and I could have different opinions on what is expensive... I usually do it before an event or a beach day. Again, this is a short term result only lasting about a day or two...

Why not eat royally instead? A fruity protein smoothie for breakfast, a large leafy salad for lunch liberally sprinkled with cashews, and a salmon or Kobe steak for dinner with a small side. Finish off the day with ambrosia salad.
Nutritious, indulgent, and reasonable calories.
I kind of dream that every bride who listens to me goes down the aisle in a tailored gown that fits, has a healthy glow to her cheeks and a confident smile that says she loves herself enough to take care.0 -
You can switch up the food, you just need to keep in the calories, so find something else you like that has the same amount of calories the hot dogs have etc.. You should lose a few pounds before the wedding, but do expect to gain those pounds back after you start eating again, even if you are going to start counting calories and stay in a deficit, but for the shot term it should work, Have fun at the wedding.0
