(sidenote - im sure this has been asked ad nauseum, and i do apologize if you've seen this 5,000 times already! but i need help  )
If you have a day where you ate just a bit too much calories (like 200 or so over), do you eat 200 less the next day or just keep going on with 1200 net? I had a little attack by a Hershey bar yesterday and well, it put me over my 1200 daily. Boo! so can i make up for it today by eating less?

I would consider the day over and start fresh the next. Stick to the 1200 for the next day, Maybe do a little extra walking or something. Remember, You can eat what you want if you are willing to work it off. If you are like me and don't exercise, then watch those hershey bars they will kill you every time.
Stock your house with good snacks and get rid of the bad. Don't use the excuse that you have kids because if you want them to be healthy they need good choices too.0 -
I do that too, if I am 200 cals over the night before I cut 200 cals out of the next day to even it up. It won't put you in starvation mode or anything. Then I just eat regular calories the day after that. or you could burn an extra 200 the next day and eat regularly0

That happens to me often on the weekends. I personally would eat less today to make up for it. I have days each week where I am over 1200 calories and days I am under. I more so pay attention to my weekly average to make sure my weekly average is 1200 calories per day.0

I'd be really surprised (and suspicious) if someone hit their calorie goal EXACTLY every day. Going slightly over or under happens. But I would suggest since you are at such a low total daily number that you make sure to keep up your 1200 calorie net continued... and there's always exercise too (just make sure to eat back those exercise calories).
Good luck!0 -
That's what they do on Weight Watchers--save up points for the weekends. I have the opposite problem, I'm generally always under and can't make myself eat the extra calories. I'm not sure what I'd do...I personally wouldn't want to get into the habit of thinking it would be OK to eat more one day 'cause I could always eat less the next, but that's just me.0

LOL ... I think I am worse... I average it out over a 3 day period... As long as my TOTAL calories for the week equal a deficit that encourages weight loss, I don't get too hung up on it...
Really though, you have to find the combination that will keep you from:
1. Feeling guilty when you eat something (it's not a 'cheat', it's a CHOICE that has consequences such as needing to exercise a little more to make up for it, or eating a little less after the fact.)
2. Won't set you up for a pattern of irresponsible eating habits (It's OK to indulge in a treat once in a while, there would be no point in making a lifestyle change if you can't enjoy the LIFE part of that. BUT that doesn't mean you can act irresponsibly toward your body for the long term or you end up right back where you started, or worse.)
3. Recognizng the REAL REASON you were attacked by that chocolate bar... Was it just convenient? Was it a substitute for not dealing with an emotional issue? Was it something you really wanted and were willing to accept the consequences for? Was it easier to eat the bar rather than deal with a sabotaging 'friend' who was judging you for not eating it? etc.
If you were only 200 calories over, you probably had a deficit left from the program either way, just not the higher deficit you would have had without the indulgence. Pick your day up and move on.0
