My MIL who is a diet and and health food junkie tells me you shouldn't have any food with your Protein shake it won't work if you do. She says it is mean to be a meal replacement. I drink my at work with my cottage cheese and half a tomato and or a banana. What is everyone's thoughts on this subject?

She is wrong. It is meant to be a supplement, not a meal replacement.0

A protein shake is a protein supplement. If you are not meeting protein goals a protein shake helps. A protein shake is NOT the same thing as a meal replacement shake.

A meal replacement shake (ideally) includes protein, fat, fiber, and micronutrients.0 -
I hope not!! I use a ninja and add fruits, spinach, oats and milk along with my protein powder to make a smoothie.
When your mil says it "doesn't work"... Doesn't work how exactly??0 -

That is what I thought and told her but aI thought I would double check with my MFP Peeps. iI think it was one of those diet shakes to have instead of eating. Thanks for the feedback my friends0

now that's new one! never heard oh that before, anyway I don't think that's true at all, and all I can tell you is that every night I have a home made protein shake as complement to my dinner and is working wonderful.0

I've always had snacks/meals with my protien shakes. It's a supplement...not sure why they said otherwise.0
