I lifted yesterday and although I do feel a tiny burn in my abs my legs feel nothing, does that mean I should have lifted heavier or done more reps?

No, muscle soreness is not an indicator of a good (or bad) workout.

ETA: Post the workout you did yesterday along with weight for each exercise if you're really looking for feedback.

No, soreness is not a measure of workout quality. It usuallt comes from doing something different than what those muscles are used to.

There was an article in the paper yesterday on this and I called bs. I am only sore if I took a couple weeks off lifting.

soreness is not an indicator of a good or bad workout...soreness is usually due to stimulus that your muscles aren't used to...if you're doing the same lifts and not increasing intensity/weight, etc...well, you're not likely to be very sore.

I only get sore if I do something different.

Because I'm trying to work on form I'm not getting the form right or maybe because I have a gut it just doesn't look right. Anyways with just my body weight I thought 15 would be better
