I read a thread about oatmeal cookies, but I want to talk about beer

More specifically I want to talk about craft beer. I'm in the northeast section of the US and I feel really blessed that we have great craft beer out here. My favorite breweries are DogFish (cause I'm from Delaware so it is required), Brooklyn, Yards, Cigar City (yes, I know Tampa isn't the northwest) and I'm really liking a midwest brewery called Bells.
I like all different kinds of beer but my favorites right now are wilds and sours. I also am not the hugest fan of IPA, but I love a DIPA. They are just smoother in my opinion.

You have my absolute favorite brewery and 2 more of my top 10 on that list. I cannot get enough Dogfish Head. Can't wait for the 120 to hit our stores (I live in NJ right outside Philly).
Big ups on sours - what a great summer beer! I've also taken an interest in the farmhouse saisons (Yards makes a banging FS).
I like Ballast Point out of San Diego (Grapefruit Sculpin FTW), Deschutes out of Portland, OR, and Anchor out of San Fran.
Do you like any of the Oskar Blues lines? They have locations in Colorado and North Carolina.0 -

There's a higher res version here: http://www.40cozy.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/list-of-beer-styles.jpg0 -
Lagunita's IPAs...
Red Hook anything...
Loooove Wookchuck's Gumption cider.
I don't know if woodchuck is craft or not but that flavor damn well tastes it.
So. Good.0 -
I'm a major IPA and Pale Ale fan. My go-to beers are Bells Two Hearted, Dale's Pale Ale, Ballast Point Sculpin, Flying Dog Raging *kitten*, and Captain Lawrence IPA. I just moved from Pittsburgh where we had super awesome breweries (Fat Head's, Roundabout, Brew Gentleman, Arsenal Cider, and Grist House to name a few...). Now in Upstate NY and looking forward to finding some new local stuff!!!0

Ha! Love this. Screw the oatmeal cookies. We are fortunate to have very fine craft beers in Charlotte:
NODA brewery - award winning for Hop,Drop & Roll. (Gold for IPA) They make amazing holiday brews- Gingerbread
Birdsong - Jalapeño pale ale
OMB, Olde Mecklenburg - OMB Copper, Mecktoberfest
Triple C
In Asheville- Highland Brewery - Gaelic Ale goes great with bagpipes!
And it's lucky to find it everywhere on tap & in stores.0 -

I got a flight of crafts in an airport bar on a layover in Charlotte and the OMB Copper was one of the beers. Giant +1...that **** is awaesome! I think NODA was in there, too. Possibly the Hop, Drop, & Roll.

New Glarus in Wisconsin makes some nice sour beers (a Berliner weisse and a sour brown). I grew up in Michigan so Bells is close to my heart. I like their Two Hearted Ale and Hopslam. If you like big stout beers Bells Expedition Stout is always good.0

Ah you guys I'm so jealous of you being able to get fresh American beer. By the time it reaches us in the UK it's just a sticky malty mess with the barest hint of hops remaining! To be fair though we do have some absolutely fab breweries over here, Thornbridge, Buxton, Siren, Burning Sky, all making a great range of stuff. Sours are my favourite too, but I love pretty much anything with a lot of flavour and body.0

So many good beers listed. NODA does one of my favorite pumpkin beers. Their Gordgeous is good while a little sweeter than I usually like. Brooklyn does a dry Irish Stout that kicks *kitten*, but my favorite stout is probably Yards Love Stout. The Dogfish 90 minute is probably one of my favorite IPAs.
@tincanonastring come on over the Commodore Barry and take 95S to 322 (towards West Chester) to 452 to concord rd. There is a new brewery here called 2SP brewing. They were just a brewpub with great food and other people's beer called 2 Stones brew pub in Delaware and they just opened their breweries tasting room about 2 weeks ago. Their head brewer is Bob Barrar from Iron Hill. I would say the brewery is maybe 15 minutes off the commodore barry. They have some really nice beers. They have a DIPA called bellcracker that is fabulous and two nice saisons. They also do a Delco lager that is drinkable but I would have liked more malts.
Oh, and victory's summer ale was great this year. so good after cutting the grass on a hot day.0 -

Oooooh....a sour brown. I bet that's tasty as ****.0 -
Since we're in here and it's a fitness site, anyone ever check the nutrition on a really well-made beer? I like the 120 Minute IPA from Dogfish Head. It's 15-20% alcohol and 450 calories per 12oz bottle. I gladly make room in my diary for that.0

I don't feel too bad for you. I've had a hard time finding decent lambics. Not sure if they just aren't distributed in my area but I'm sure you get better lambics in the UK0 -
Yeah, but some of the summery beers aren't to bad. Bells' Oarsman Ale is good summer ale, slightly sour on the finish and only 120 calories. I can have 20

Beer has calories?

Drat. I posted on the wrong thread, too.
Beer's not my thing. But Really Good Chocolate cured me from the cheap stuff...and bingeing.

No a fan of craft beers but I can definitely get into some Wild Blue and lemonade during the summer. Haven't tried or seen Wild Red yet in bars around here but when I do I'm going to nab it.0

Oh for sure, we get a fair bit of Cantillon brought over from Belgium. My favourite brewery, actually!
With regard to beer calories, I actually currently write tasting notes for a living so I have to try a lot of beer (such a hard life!) and I'm working with a fairly low calorie diet so I generally split the bottles with my partner. Lucky him! I've got a pale ale & IPA chilling in the fridge for after dinner, cannot wait to crack them open. You know you're a MFPer when you weigh how much beer is left with the sediment in the bottom of the bottle and subtract it from the calorie count for the 330ml bottle

I had a Cantillon in Massachusetts and loved it. They just don't really distribute here. I think our "lambics" have too much fruit to hide the fact that the wild yeast isn't as good as that from Belgium.
On a side note, I actually sell legal services. I just love beer. I finally got my husband to drink decent beer. He was a rum and coke drinker before.0 -
Has anyone else here tried the "Not Your Father's Root beer?" I'm not the hugest rootbeer fan and wanted to hate a rootbeer masquerading as a beer, but it was actually pretty good. I can only drink one though. So sweet.0

Bells Two Hearted! Yummy!0

Love New Glarus! I was up in WI a few weeks ago and stocked up on Spotted Cow, Two Women, and their Pumpkin Pie beer.
I tend to prefer wheat beers over hoppier IPA's. Boulevard Unfiltered Wheat is my all time favorite, but I'm partial to KC.0 -
Bells just started distributing in Delaware in June. I've tried the Oarsman Ale, the Two Hearted, and the Oberon. Liked them all. I see from their site they make a wild fermented brown ale. I'd love to get my hands on that.0

I just tried this yesterday. (Few sips) And it was great. And I hate root beer, so that tells you something.
