Well how quickly did you lose the weight? Are you sure it's loose skin?0

sorry - I'm just starting my journey, so the weight isn't lost yet. I want to lose about 30 - 35 pounds.0

Honestly, I don't think it will be a big issue unless you lose the weight very quickly. I was at 168 at one point (awhile ago, before I joined MFP) and am about 135 lbs now (5'3"). I've always lost weight gradually, and have been in the 135 range for awhile now (had gone down a bit more but then came back up. ARGH! :P). I haven't really had any issues w/loose skin.0

Genetics, age, how long you have been overweight and how you lose the weight can help determine if you have loose skin. I have a lot more to lose thank you. I will probably have loose skin since >100lbs to lose but I will cross that bridge when I get there. To me I would rather be at a healthy weight and cut my risk for health issues. Good luck. I think you should be ok. Most people have a large amount of skin after larger weight losses than your goal.0

Well to answer that question in complete, no one can. Because your built different than other people for one and for another it depends how you lose it and another it depends how fast you lose it.
I lost 40 lbs from an ulcer a few years ago but because I lost it very fast I had a lot of loose skin.
I put the weight back on and now I am losing slowly and I don't gave, any loose skin so far hut I'm working out while being on a defecit in my calories.

Thank you! I know I should probably not even be worried about it since my ultimate goal is to change my lifestyle and become a healthier person.

You have less than 30 pounds to lose. Take it very slowly. Set your weight loss goals to lose .5 pounds a week and incorporate some weight lifting into your program. While genetics and other factors will determine the condition of your skin, weight lifting helps with giving people a toned look. I have also experienced that slow weight loss and weight lifting has helped me with not having a whole lot of lose skin as well.
Remember, you are trying to make lifestyle changes so there is no end point, just the process.0 -
I've gone from 167 to 140 and I have a bit of loose skin on my stomach and on my neck under my chin but it's down to a combination of age, four full term pregnancies and genetics in my case. 30 pounds isn't too much weight- you should be fine.0

I've gone from 182lbs to 127lbs (I'm 5'3") and I've found the only loose-ish skin I have now is my lower tummy. I was overweight all of my teenage years and some of my early 20s so I'm not expecting it to go flat.0

Genetics play a key role.
Staying hydrated and losing at a reasonable rate seem to help.
I'm slightly taller than you (5'7"), and I've lost a little more weight than you plan to (~50 lbs), too--but I'm happy to say that while my stomach is a bit squishier than I want it to be, I don't have bat wings or floppy skin rolls.0 -
With such a small weight loss, it's unlikely that you will have a problem0

I'm 5'5 and have went from 170 post-pregnancy to 145 current and the only loose skin I have is related to my pregnancies, and it's very minimal. Still need to lose 10 though.0

My loose skin wrinkles didn't show up until I'd lost about 60 pounds. It didn't actually flop down, with nothing but loose, hanging skin until almost 90 pounds.
I lost my weight VERY slowly. Contrary to popular opinion, losing slowly is not a guarantee against loose skin.
I get you lose your weight and end up with no loose skin.0
