Do you have a plan for not gaining after losing?

I'm sure most of us have a plan, but like do you have a certain amount of weight your willing to gain before you start trying to lose again (1lb...5lbs...10lbs) etc? Since weight fluctuates etc?

I'm scared I'm still going to be jumpy over a 2lb water weight gain, and like chop my calories down every 5 seconds. Hoping I'm a little more "sane" by the time I reach my goal weight, but you never know. So I think I'm going to let myself fluctuate around 10lbs.... Like once I hit that 10lbs overweight mark...time to go back to a 1lb/week loss etc. or something. I dunno. Haha

Anyways, wondering what everyone else has planned?

Oh, and do you still think you'll have scheduled weigh ins? Like still weigh yourself once a week, once a month etc?

When I reach my goal weight, I am only going to weigh myself if I notice my clothing not fitting right. I changed my lifestyle, so maintaining healthy eating habits *should* mean I won't gain it back. I will probably set mine to maintain and keep tracking just because it's a good habit to be in, but I'm not gonna sweat it if I forget sometimes. :-)

5 pounds is my marker. I still measure all my food, and log it every day. ... 5 pounds.. NOT 10. :)

    Good luck!

I'm not sure, I've been wondering the same thing. I'm aiming to get down to somewhere between 65 - 70kg, so I think I would be happy to stay anywhere in this range (which is an 11 pound range). Otherwise about 3kg over would probably make me panic. Ask me in 6 months, hopefully I'll be at goal and know how to maintain by then!

I remember Jillian Michaels saying once that she goes up and down 5-10 lbs depending on what's going on in her life. I'm going to give myself about a 8 lb range but put much effort into not gaining anything. If we lose the way in a way that's sustainable in the long run, there shouldn't be too much of an issue.

More important for me though is I have a SIZE goal not just a scale number goal. As long as Im not "muffin topping" or having to buy the next size up the scale can bite me

This is what i'm going with, and measuring by clothes fitting. Probably will hit scale, and if it's 5-7 off, I'll start upping my activity or cutting some calories until it rectifies

I am going to allow a 5 pound fluctuation. I plan on using MFP for the rest of my life. One thing I like is how it will project your 5 week weight loss/gain after you complete your daily entry. By watching that projection you not only see how your day was, it tells you to knock it off or else. This is by far the best weight loss tool, diet, program...call it what you want that I have EVER used, and I've done them all. This site can stand alone as a weight loss program. Many thanks to my friend Nicole on Guam for introducing me to MFP.

Once I reach my goal weight, I'm not gonna count calories (I hate to), and I'm just gonna exercise to keep looking lean and weigh in once a month, or whenever I feel like it
  • I haven't thought about that. ha. I am off the wagon as it is. and sooo far away from goal. why worry myself with more. :-P haha.

I am at my goal weight and am still logging everything that goes into my mouth and also I weigh daily.
I plan to log religiously for at least another 6 months.
I am am planning to have a 5 pound window, if I weigh 5 pounds over goal for more than a week, i plan to go back into weight loss mode.
I have 2 weeks of vacation coming up and plan to indulge a bit, so July will be weight loss mode for me if I put on any weight. :)

My body seems to have gone into maintenance mode without my consent LOL!!

Realistically I would like to drop those last few lbs BUT I have recently given up smoking so I am actually quite happy with just a 1lbs loss in the past month. I am so close to goal weight anyway! I am eating between the amount fo cals to lose 0.5lbs a week and to maintain. So I have gone up from 1200 to 1300 (not up to 1400 though) and I eat my exercise cals.

I will allow myself a 5lb fluctuation though

I'm giving myself a 5 to 10 lbs window but basically for water weight when I may indulge in high sodium foods such as crab legs or go to a restaurant. I made a lifestyle change so my eating habits will still be the same as they are now when I reach goal. So my plan is just to continue on doing what I'm currently doing. Eating realistically healthy and exercising.

I hope I'll be doing exactly the same as I am doing now, but with more calories. Hadn't considered the scenario of putting any back on, so hadn't given myself a point at which I'll go back to a reducing diet, but I'll think about that. Definitely nothing like 10lb, that's a LOT on someone my size, maybe 4lb (which to put it in context would take about two months to lose!)

Logging is quick and easy with a smartphone, and I'm in the habit now ,hopefully it won't get too tiresome.
