Started making brown rice about ten years ago because I heard that it's healthier.

I thought brown had more fibre and protein and lower GI than white?

White vs brown is like 1g of fibre. IIRC, white has 1g or 2g of fiber (brand dependent) and brown is a gram above that. Personally, 3g of fiber (less than most breads these days) is negligible.

Especially if you eat it with lots of vegetables, as I would.

Whatever you prefer. I like all types, brown, red, purple, black, white. But certain varieties clearly suit different dishes. Do not put brown rice in sushi, for example.

I will say that the whole grain rices seem to be difficult to cook correctly than white. I prefer my rice on the firm side, and whole grain rices seem to go from hard to overdone in no time. When I do get it in a restaurant it's almost always over - and not just over for my tastes, but really mushy.

Honestly, black rice. Whenever I come across black rice at a thai place I get excited.

Day to day, which rice wins. Basmati. Brown rice is mushy and gross to me.
