anyone else a scale *kitten*?

So I'm a scale *kitten*. I'm obsessed with the number on the scale, I weigh myself atleast 3 times a day. I just can't, not look at it. This past week and a half I was stuck at the same number the whole time, and it was really getting to me, that I couldn't break it. I even told my husband, that if I didn't break the number, I was going to give up on trying to lose weight. I started believing that if I didn't break this number, it wasn't meant to be. Well I broke the number this morning, even if it was just by .4lbs. Then my husband told me to tape my self, and I did. I have dropped two inches around my stomach, since the last time I checked. I understand that sometimes you lose inches vs the scale numbers. But, I just don't feel happy/ motivated unless the scale is moving down as well.... Anyone else have the same problem?
Update:
Thank you! The video defiantly helped me. It's not really the numbers throughout the day that bothers me, I do weigh myself every morning at the same time and that's really the only number that I care about. . I eat healthy meals 3 times a day, and work out, and im nowhere from being "skinny" I just know that if I stop caring about the scale, I gain it all back after working so hard to lost it.

The scale is only a tool to show progress. Weighing yourself three times a day is setting yourself up for resentment. Weight naturally fluctuates.0

Weight loss is not linear.0

If the scale is causing that much anxiety (and at three times a day I can believe it), it's time to step away from it. Every time you eat or drink something, your weight changes. That's why it's suggested to only weigh at the same time under the same conditions, that way you are seeing less in the way of fluctuations.0

I'm the opposite. I weigh myself once a week. I watch my macros like a hawk and know that if they're where they're supposed to be, the scale will cooperate overall. My weight can swing 3lbs in a single day. I don't need that kind of stress!0

I'm an ex-*kitten*. I've had days where I was expecting a loss because I gave it my all in the previous week and the scale didn't budge and I was so bothered I considered not trying any more. Improvements you are making to your body with this process don't always show up on the scale. I know that when I am eating nutritious food, exercising, and not going to bed full (a little hungry if I can manage it), I'm heading in the right direction, regardless of those stupid scales.0

I don't have that problem now, but 25 years ago when I was diagnosed with an eating disorder I certainly did. The level of obsession you seem to have with the number on the scale is a warning sign. Heed it.0

I mostly agree. I do weigh myself frequently, even a couple of times a day. But I am interested in the fluctations and what affects it. I do not get alarmed by the changes or frustrated.
But, if you do, then I totally agree you are setting yourself up from resentment.0 -
Oh, I thought that this was going to be a thread about food scales! That's the only scale I'm obsessed with. I even have a mini one in my purse (I weigh stuff at work).0

I weigh myself every day, but my scale weight fluctuates a lot. I find it easiest to keep track of my weight in a spreadsheet that calculates my 10-day floating average so that I know where I am and don't get thrown off by the day-to-day. The spreadsheet can be found here:

I see what you're saying. I think it's interesting watching scale fluctuations. I weigh every day and record my weigh tin a fitness app so I can watch the trend. It's a tool that helps me stay on track. If I ever got obsessed I would probably stop, though.0 -
It is pointless to weigh yourself in the middle of the day. If you want to do it everyday...that's fine. But only do it once in the morning when you just get up...after you pee. And of course before you eat anything. And if you are becoming too obsessive about it don't weigh but once a week. Just stick to your diet and the weight loss will happen. Weighing yourself isn't going to change that.0

Glad the video helped! Suggestions - for the next month, stop weighing yourself more than once a day, chart this weight and look at trends, and report back on whether that changed your relationship with the scale.
