eating 1200 cals and not really losing weight

I'm eating 1200 cals and doing 5 classes a week and the weight is not really shifting. Drinking plenty. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong. I have tried no carbs after lunch etc

How long have you been doing this?

How are you measuring what you eat? Do you have/use a food scale?

If you're not weighing and measuring every thing you consume then you're probably over eating the 1200 calories.

It's all about the calories. Don't worry about carbs.

Good advice up there. OP, if you open your diary, we might be able to provide some more insight.

When you say "not really shifting" do you mean that you haven't lost any weight at all? (Asking because there are people who use that kind of wording but still have had some loss.)

You shouldn't go below that. If you have a deficit calculated and you are logging every stinking calorie you should lose. You can increase your activity but at 1200 you likely will need to eat back some calories.

If you're doing 5 classes a week you're probably getting really fit and gaining muscle. Are you losing inches?

Not if she's eating 1200 calories

My guess (since op hasn't come back to clarify) is that it's either only been a few days or she's not accurately measuring her caloric intake.

I have been doing classes for 12 months now. I have lost 1 stone since last Sept but only lost 3lb in the last 3 weeks. I'm currently 12 st 12 and 5ft 7 to give you an idea of my stature.

I don't weigh salad , fruit or veg but I weigh carbs and protein.

you need to weigh everything in grams and on a scale. liquids with measuring cups.

As is often said here, "weight loss is not linear". You are losing weight. You are doing things right. Continue. Here's my weight loss logged with a trend line to give you an idea.

The red diamonds are what the scale said. The green line is the progress. BTW, the speed of my weight loss is not typical and was closely supervised by a medical team.

You need to weigh fruit, vegetables not so important but veggies still have calories.

Salad with dressing could have hundreds of calories, same thing with the fruit depending upon how much you are eating of it. I eat about 100+ calories of vegetables every day. All those things could add up and keep you from losing weight.

75g of Brussels sprouts = 40 calories 30g of beetroot = 40 cals. Veggies add up in a day. Fruit even more so... 1 average pear = 106 cals. You have to weigh and log everything or you could be out by hundred or more at the end of every day.

Three pounds in three weeks is a great loss. At your weight and height that is a healthy rate. As you get closer to your goal, weight loss slows. You can tighten up your logging as suggested earlier but you can not stay properly nourished and retain lean body mass losing much faster. As your weight continues to decrease a .5 lb per week will be great success.

3 lbs in 3 weeks is great. Failing to see any issues here.

And that is exactly why I ask people to clarify what they mean by "not really losing."

I'm eating 1200 or less calories a day, working out by walking 5 miles 5-6 days a week and I've noticed if I go over 33g of fat a day, I don't lose anything. It's not just calories that need to be watched. It's fats and sugars too.

Oh I should add that I don't eat back my calories after working out either.

Eating more than you are burning which would be way more than 1200 calories

Nope, only calories matter for weight loss. Nutrition is a different kettle of fish.

Weight loss isn't linear. Some days you go up, some days you go down. Hormones, exercise, sodium - all these affect water weight.

Look for a downward trend over a long term. Apps like Happy Scale are good for this if you want to weigh daily.
