When the barcode scanner doesn't match up with the nutritional label

The nutrition label says 200 cal and 8g of fat, but when I scan the barcode, it comes up with 220 cal and 10g of fat.

I was wondering which one would be more accurate? Thanks (:

I always use the information on the package if I have it. That will be the most correct information for that specific product.

Food manufacturers sometimes change the ingredients in their items, so a barcode on a current package could bring up the nutritional information for an older product from the MFP Food Database - or the MFP user who entered the information could have entered inaccurate nutritional information in the first place. If you have the time (and patience), you can edit the associated food item to update the nutritional information.

Is it possible to change the information? I have two items that show on MFP as having carbs but both labels read 0. when you're on a 20net carb lifestyle everyone counts! :)

Yes, it is possible: when this issue arises for me, I just send an email to the manufacturer (I look up the contact information for the company online) and let them know about the discrepancy and they usually fix it shortly thereafter.

Or you can just click on "Create New Food" button under the incorrect nutritional info, enter the correct info, click "Save" and that immediately updates the barcode info. To check, scan that barcode again, you will see that the nutritional info will be corrected

I noticed this with a Quest Bar yesterday.
