Packaged frozen kale for smoothies

I read suggestions here to use the packaged frozen kale to add to smoothies. This would be very convenient but the other day in the super market one of the packages had a warning to cook kale before using and I've never seen that on other packages.

Does frozen kale need to be cooked before consumption or is it safe to put it in raw into smoothies?

I always eat raw kale (salads, smoothies, etc and never had an issue so suspect you would be fine..

I am assuming you are referring to kale that was bought frozen?

Both frozen kale that I thaw and/or fresh from the produce section.

Ok thanks. I didn't think this would be an issue, I've done it a couple of times before as well. Just thought it was strange that the packaging had those directions, thought maybe I was doing something wrong.
