Dear IMS, I am also striving to be fit in my 50's. I'm a 53 year old woman and have just lost 16 pounds. It takes a little longer while we are older to shed the pounds but it is possible. If you are looking for a fitness pal friend please feel free to add me. We can support each other. That's what My FitnessPal is all about. Have a great day. Peace and Love! SuzenM0

Thank you for replying! You can do it! I wish I could rewind back to 30 again but I can't so here I go. This isn't just a want for me but a have too. I recently have had two knee injuries, last November and again this past Monday that is a wake up call. We are in this together!0

Hi there,
I'm also 47 and wanting to be fitter by 50! I'm working on my last lbs and on strength training to build some muscle. Just started MFP on June 1st and I love it!
Add me as a friend, if you'd like!

Hello and welcome.
I think you're perfectly correct. You are worth it.
I'm two years away from fifty and I plan on being a lot healthier and thinner by the time I get there.
You're welcome to add me as a friend, and good luck on your quest.0 -
Yes you ARE WORTH IT!!!!! GOOD LUCK to you!!!0

I am also 47, and I am only 5ft 3 and it was an evening spent in an A&E department in 2009 that should have got me started sooner but I joined MFP in Feb 2011 after a recommendation by my elder sister who has struggled with her weight since we were kids. I now appreciate exercise is the key to keeping excess weight off so if you stick to your daily calorie limit and do any exercise little and often you are guaranteed to lose weight. Even sticking to this, there will be some occasions when the scales unexplainedly go up but this is temporary so keep an eye on your calorie intake daily, walk, use the stairs and keep reading the success stories because this will remind you that you can achieve your goal.
Best of luck to you0 -
Sounds like there are a bunch of us 47-year olds ready to make the second halves of our lives healthier! Good luck to all of you. Here's to making a change for the better. :flowerforyou:0
