Help! I'm dehydrated and have a low sodium Level. Can anyone help? Just adding more salt to foods doesn't seem to make a difference to increase my salt.

Had routine bloods taken and this was the result. Most of the population are trying to lower salt and I'm trying to increase it:(0

You can also take a sodium supplement in a pill. That's what I have to do to keep my sodium where it belongs.0

Boulion cubes. Drink bone/ chicken broth 1 cup a day should be plenty. Eat bacon etc.0

You can try increasing your salt intake through food. If you weren't dehydrated, I would say lower your fluid intake as drinking large amounts of water can cause low NA levels. Did your blood work show that you are dehydrated or do you just feel that you are? Additionally, as another poster mentioned, you can also buy OTC sodium supplements. Make sure you check with your doctor before taking these.0

I had that issue and my doctor suggested 1/4 tsp sodium chloride (non iodixed table salt), 1/4 tsp. sodium bicarbonate (baking soda), and 1/4 tsp. potassium chloride (salt substitute) added to any beverage once a day. Basically I was making my own electrolyte beverage. She also suggested pedialyte if I wanted the expense.

I can't believe a doctor gave you that news without a recommendation of what to do about it, but Gatorade might do the trick.0

That was one day. A point in time. If I went to the doc's for blood work after lunch, my bloodwork would likely show the same (Since I would have just walked 4 miles less than an hour ago). However, an hour after dinner, and the blood test would not show the same.
Don't sweat it (hahaha) until it shows as being routine. I am not a doctor, and this is not medical advice, however, I do not know (Off hand) of any disease that causes low sodium and dehydration.0 -

Actually, my dr said eat more salt Gail and drink more fluid but I swear if I drink any more my stomach will feel like a fish bowl. But thanks for the tips guys I'll certainly try some of these out.0

Gatorade is not natural its better to juice an apple celery and lemons much better nutritents for you. If you're in a pickle she can drink pickle juice0 -

Did you ask your doctor how you could be dehydrated since you feel like you are already drinking plenty?
