Hi I am back. I am hoping to lose 50lbs but to start out I will say 20 just to get motivated. I have a fitbit and join challenges every day but I am not losing. I think I tell myself since I am walking I can eat what I want. I need a new mindset!! Hoping we can all encourage each other!

I seem to either do well at the exercise or the eating- I need to pair them up!!

Walking does burn some calories.....but often not as many as some people think. Exercise will give you a little boost...but 80+% of weight loss will come from eating less.

So, the best thing you can do......Sync your FitBit with MFP (enable negative adjustments). Then eat calories per MFP (they will have the deficit built in) On days when you walk less, your calorie allotment may go down.

Your Fitbit burn is TDEE (total daily energy expenditure), the calories necessary to maintain your current weight. If (and only if) you enable negative calorie adjustments in your diary settings, MFP will adjust your calorie goal to TDEE minus deficit: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/account/diary_settings

But you still have to log everything you eat & drink accurately & honestly. Logging works. For a new mindset, read the Sexypants post: https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/1080242/a-guide-to-get-you-started-on-your-path-to-sexypants/p1

And/or look at this flow chart:

I've learned that I have to pair up exercise and eating right. One or the other doesn't work for me. I can lose a little just eating right but not much. I can't lose anything at all if I'm just exercising and not eating right.
