How long did your knee tendonitis take to heal and what were the symptoms?

What part of the knee hurt? Looking for other people that were diagnosed with tendonitis of the knee. My doctor said that is whay I have. But it is my medial inner part of the knee and looks bruised and back of my knee gets tight. No visible signs of swelling.

I've got patellar tendonitis in my right knee. It's been hurting since middle of May. I've done anti-inflammatories, physical therapy, cortisone shot, MRI, and I'm back on a stronger anti-inflammatory twice a day and a topical anti-inflammatory 4 times a day. I go back in a few weeks for follow-up. I think this may be the end of my cross-fit career and possibly the end of my roller derby career as well, which upsets me more than anything. It also doesn't help that I sit at a desk all day, which puts constant pressure on the patellar tendon.

Basically what hurt, and still does, is the lower patellar tendon doing down from the knee cap into the top of the leg. It feels fine when I'm walking, standing, or have my leg extended, but when it bends, watch out.....that baby hurts! I've been told to have patience and it will heal with time, but it's been over 3 months and I'm getting very antsy. I hope your knee heals quickly and without any issues......good luck!

GPs aren't great at diagnosing knee things. See a PT or sports med for a 2nd look. It could be a bunch of things (mcl, meniscus, a weird thing it turns out I have called plica syndrome).

Whatever it is, expect 2-12 months of modified activity (depending on what it is).

Tendinopathy takes a long time to heal. There isn't always swelling, because it involves degeneration, not (primarily) swelling.

Thanks everyone! Oh no I hope everyone gets well soon. I was told to get an mri but don't have the money. I am not that bad off so I am waiting. I just can't go up and down stairs or run. I feel little to no pain most of the time. Sux though to modify my exercise to walking and biking. At least I can walk.

I hope you can do what you love again. I can't yet. It has been 8 weeks. My mom had a knee injury for 2 yrs and can run again so maybe you can roller derby again with good knee protection braces on.
