It's fantastic that you enjoy the gym - this is a HUGE bonus! :]
A lot of us (me included) find the exercise side of things quite tedious so the fact that you love it is good news!
Diet wise - eat whatever you want, whenever you want but stick to your calorie allowance. It really is that simple. There are no rules to weight loss except eat at a deficit. Wishing you the very best of luck!0 -
Losing weight is about eating less calories than you burn. Exercise is great for fitness and for creating a situation where you can eat a bit more and still lose weight. If you set up MFP for a reasonable weight loss goal (with 40 pounds to lose, set for 1 pound per week), you'll see how many calories you need to eat each day to make that goal. Log everything you eat, verify serving sizes with a kitchen scale as much as possible and stay close to your calorie goal and you will lose weight. It's really almost always that simple.
Best wishes!0 -
Thank you guys very much!!! I have a question to ask also. If I don't meet me 1,200 calorie goal like yesterday I still had 430 left is that bad?0

I tend to think of calories on a weekly basis; there's no magic switch at midnight each day, your body is always processing calories for energy. I'll do things like eat a little less each day during the week so I can splurge on a weekend when I know I have a party or event. If I have a long run one day I don't always feel like eating those calories that day but I'll be more hungry the next so it evens out.
You do not want to consistently under-eat, though. You will have a very hard time getting your vitamins and minerals if you're eating 500-600 calories per day on a regular basis. Your body will start to react as though you don't have access to food and unpleasant things can happen such as hair loss, dry skin, brittle nails, excessive muscle loss, loss of your menstrual cycle. You'll get sluggish and have difficulty concentrating as your body diverts energy to areas that need it. Speeding up weight loss in this way is seriously bad for your health and will only make things harder on you in the future.0 -

I'd definitely suggest not going below 1200 calories for the pure fact that it isn't safe. Your body needs fuel and if it isn't getting enough, it'll start lagging. 1200 calories is very, very low as it is - so anything below that is certainly not recommended.
If you truly can't eat another 430 calories that day, bank it for the following day and treat yourself to something indulgent. If I have calories remaining through the week, I add up the total and use it for a nice high calorie treat at the weekend. There are ways around it. But ultimately, stick to your calorie allowance - do not go below 12000 -
I would not go below 1200 calories, I did and paid the price. Remember also when you burn alot of calories through working out, you need to eat some of them back. Keep the body fuelled up means a healthy lifestyle plus you will have the energy to do a great workout.0
