I was curious if anyone here was running the VT Spartan beast this coming weekend? This will be my second time running VT and am anxious and excited.

Almost fully healed from my first marathon run a couple weeks ago and hoping for a better/faster run than last year. OCR races have been amazing for me to keep me motivated and getting me ready put in work to get stronger.

I'll also be running the Rugged Maniac in two weeks. Any other OCR people here or what keeps you motivated on your journey?

I've done sprints and supers but no beast/22k+ (it's a 7 hr drive + overnight stay) - maybe next year will get a trifecta). I've heard the VT one is pretty mean so good luck!!! I still find they are 95% run ability and good grip strength.

Vermont is brutal I hear. I was supposed to do Tahoe... but work is saying no.

i've done a couple Spartan's as part of the Biggest Loser Challenge. Also finished the Rugged Maniac in Atlanta last month. Hoping to volunteer and complete a sprint in November in Columbia, SC.

Not doing this years, but I started training 2 months ago so that I could run the VT Beast in 2016. It's been my motivator through the past months and it is what I am going to use to stay motivated through the winter. I have also been telling all my friends and family that I am going to run it so that I stay accountable. Can't back out now!

VT is brutal, but the community of people that run are very supportive and always willing to help. But VT is definitely not a run, unless if you are trying for time. I'll be walking/jogging through the course just trying to beat my time from last year.

Get those trifectas and sign up as early as you can to get the lowest price for races. I was thinking about doing a Bone Frog or Battle Frog next year, but definitely going for a double trifecta next year. I love the volunteering aspect. For Spartan, if you volunteer for a course build full day, you get two free future races. And for most races, you can volunteer half day and run in their volunteer heats. Good luck on your upcoming races! No backing out, JayWalk39. VT will be a blast!

I'll be there! First time doing VT. This will give me my 3x Trifecta medal!

I've done a HH12HR, plus the PA and VA Super. So I am feeling pretty prepared. I just did the NJ Super competitively last weekend so I'm just going into VT to finish the race with a few teammates (my body isn't 100% recovered yet). We are planning on a sub 8hr time. Should be a blast with these ladies.

I have tons of OCR friends, it's basically all I do and talk about. So staying motivated is easy. I have major goals I'm reaching for. After VT I still have a few races on the schedule: ABF, OCR World Championships, GoRuck Tough, and Philly Stadium Sprint. Then lots of training over the winter for goals yet TBD for 2016.

    Good luck @keylope!

Oh no....my budget couldn't afford Tahoe. That is Spartan World Championships. OCR World Championships is an independent race. That is in OH...much closer to home, but still an 8 hour drive :-/

Oh right, right. That still sounds like fun! I had to drive to OH once which was about 8 hours. That was not a fun drive especially since I had to do through the night. :expressionless:

Have fun on Killington! I did the Ottawa Beast. That was a long, tough 6 hours!
I have buddies running in VT this weekend.
You will all know when it's done! Aroo!
