Dry, thick, and lumpy (almost cake-like).0

Thick and dryish. Soupy oatmeal makes me sad.0

As close to nuggets as possible.0

Yes. And I prefer some chew to the oats, so I like steel cut best.0 -

Steel cut has been highly marketed but all it is, is rolled oats cut up into bits, sold at a higher price.
Just get rolled oats. Bob's Red Mill is the brand I buy.0 -
Lumpy! But now I add Quest protein powder and it gives it a pudding-like consistency... so good.0

Lumpy! I add less water then recommended so it's lumpy !0

Lumpy0

i like my oats smooth...cream of wheat lumpy0

Thick and sticky, but I'll happily break it up with yogurt or milk.0

I guess I would have to say thick and chewy. I can't stand oatmeal in a bowl with sugar and milk, or whatever, but I love oatmeal raisin cookies. I wish I could find an oatmeal breakfast recipe I loved.0

Soupy and with a little honey and dried fruit.
It seems too much like glop when it's thick. Not hats just too much for me.0 -
At home on a normal day Thick and spoon sticking.
If on a Backpacking / Canoe Camping wilderness trip I like them Soupy with a spoon of Brown Sugar and Maple syrup. Get the extra moisture/hydration in where ever you can as De-hydration is a major concern for these constantly on the go activities. The calories from the sugar/maple syrup are not a concern because you burn it all.0 -
BTW, I don't eat oatmeal in the morning (I usually skip breakfast), but have it as a snack in the afternoon before my evening training shift.

I like either rolled oats "cooked" in yogurt for a few hours (plenty of texture) or rolled oats gently heated on the stove for hours until there is very little texture left.0
-
Between the two. If it's too firm then I'll add a splash of cold milk to break it down a bit.0

Um, no. Steel cut is not the same as rolled oats. Just like old fashioned and quick oats aren't the same. Yes, all oats but all different levels of processing which affects the flavor, texture, and nutritional profile.

I like mine smooth but not watery. Creamy with the consistency of a soft serve ice cream when it can handle itself in a spoon but does not stick enough to handle a 90 degree tilted spoon.
I might be in the minority here, but I prefer rolled to steel-cut.0 -
Mine are definitely soupy!0
