Weigh more during your period?

Hey all,
I thought I had a decent week last week but only lost .5 a pound. Could I weigh more because it's that time of month and I'm retaining water weight?

I'm glad someone else was curious about that, I didn't wanna make myself look like a fool for asking. This helps me out too now i know i'm not going crazy!0

I go anywhere from 5-10lbs during.0

Absolutely! Every month!0
-
REALLY?? 8 lbs???
I feel like I'm bloated and I'm fluffy. But, thats good to hear.0 -
I'm usually about 2-3 lbs up...every month.0
-
Yes ma'am...good news is, you are still burning fat and calories, so when the water weight goes away your scale will be nicer to you.0
-
The exact same thing happened to me last week. :frown: Stupid TOM0
-
what a bummer oh well dont get down about it your doing great!!!!0
-
Yes i weight more and u am bloated also ..0

I would say absolutely.. and I am actually very relieved to see other women gain as much weight as I do!! I usually gain between 5-10 lbs.. its really ridiculous.. but eh.. such is life right?0

I gain 2-5 pounds without fail during my time of the month, but then when it's over I lose it right away. I don't weigh in during that week because I know it will be a false reading and will really depress me!0

Is it the week OF your period or the week BEFORE your period? Sometimes I hear about people gaining during their period, but then sometimes I hear about people gaining before their period too.. So which is it? Lol is it possible that it's both?0
-
Yup! That's why I'm actually happy with my .2 lb loss this week, often it goes up as much as 5 lbs. Usually a few days before.0

Everyone if different I know for myself I gain the most while I'm on my period. I slowly start about 2 days before but it will also take 2 days after I'm finished for all of the weight to drop back off. 8 pounds is a lot and it is very frustrating but I love seeing that number go down just days after and often then it will reflect my real weight loss.0 -

It varies from person to person.
My weight goes up a couple days before my period and it doesn't drop for close to two weeks... very very frustrating; and measuring doesn't help because I'm bloated so all my measurements are off too.0 -
This is ridiculous. Stupid uterus.1

I am in the same boat! Stupid period! I usually gain the week before because I want to eat everything in sight. It sucks, I do so great for 2 weeks out of the month then struggle just to maintain for the other 2 weeks because I gain so much before I start then struggle to lose it after I start.0
-
Definitely, so far I've been lucky to lose during my TOM week still, but it is usually a very low number.0
-
When I first started trying to lose weight this time around it was that TOM for me and I was like WHY am I not losing weight?!?! WTF?!?! haha. Now I know why.0
-
Me too! I think i just won't weigh myself that week. Since, I know not really true.0
-
I gain anywhere from 2 or 3 lbs all the way up to 8 or 9, usually suddenly(like I wake up one day several lbs heavier!) a couple of days before it starts, and then right toward the end, it is just as suddenly gone. Drinking more water doesn't help, and neither does limiting sodium, but sometimes a Diurex helps a little. But I've come to realize it's pretty much inevitable, and it sucks.0

WOW!! I was just going to ask because I was very excited about my weight loss last week and stepped on my mom's scale a few days ago (when TOM started) and there was a 10lb gain! I wanted to cry...I know I haven't been doing great with my eating but I knew I hadn't really indulged either. I'm glad that you all were here to put my mind at ease and help me through this week Now I won't go eat that whole batch of cookies out of depression that my MIL sent over :-p I'll keep plugging away and hope the scale is friendly next week0

I am so glad I found this thread- I have gained 1.5lb this week for no apparent reason - I really hope it's because of my period coz I am having a massive stress at the moment !
I have decided not to log my weight until next week in the hope that this is a temporary glitch0 -
I gain about 10 pounds during my period.
Not very good for my motivation, but at least it's the same pattern every month.
I've been tracking my weight daily for about 3 months now,so there is definitely a pattern.0 -
Definitely! You are not the only one, I can gain about 5lb and it takes about a week to shift. The things us women have to put up with eh? Don't let it get you down :flowerforyou:0

oh im in the same boat.. I have been eating healthy and been doing the exercise thing like crazy and i havent lost a pound!! TOM is here and that explains it all!!!0
-
I gain up to 10 lbs during mine.0
-
OMG, this makes so much sense!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When I first started MFP on 5/13, I was doing really good and lost 3 lbs right off the bat, then gained all 3 back. I was discouraged, but didn't give up and then over the next 3 weeks, I lost those 3 lbs and 5 more. I never even THOUGHT of that. :noway: TOM was totally here during that time! :laugh:0
