Will cutting 100 calories a day lower my weight? I would drop more calories per day but I don't want to slow down my metabolism as it is pretty good. I maintain on 2,700.

Cutting 100 calories from your TDEE and eating that amount consistently would allow you to lose .2 pounds per week or a little less than a pound per month. Probably a little less in the long term allowing for the margin of error that's always involved with calorie counting.0 -
You aren't going to "slow" your metabolism down. It doesn't work that way. What are your stats?0

Cutting 100 calories from your diet will allow you to lose weight slowly provided that it puts you into a calorie deficit. It will not slow your metabolism in and of itself but as you lose weight your metabolism will slow simply because you won't burn as many calories moving your mass around on a daily basis.

Good advice. The bonus is your metabolism will be more likely to go up than down.0 -

Yes to recomp. Also at least for me it is very difficult to be that precise re 100 calories. I do log everything, but I am sure that I am regularly off my 100 calories. I have been in maintenance for a year now, but I go by weekly goals.

8-12 weeks minimum.

100 calories is four cough drops, way too few to measure accurately. Go for 300 calories and maybe 100 will stick. Although recomp makes sense as well; with so little to lose, it definitely shouldn't affect you.0

Also curious what you do for activity now. That's a super high number of calories for someone your height.0

Honestly I do cardio 3x week about 30-45 min, abs every other day, and a leg workout every other day as well.0 -

Im a 5'9" male and weigh about 185 now and my TDEE avg about 2922, and I do no formal exercise just get about 5-6 miles a day in steps.0
-
The bottom line is - if you cut 100 calories from your TDEE, you'll lose weight (very slowly - but you will technically be in a deficit if your TDEE is correct). Hope this helps0
