Back to the Basics...

Does anyone know of a reliable calculator to use? I'm 27, 5'8" and currently weigh 153 lbs. I would like to get back to 135. I'm not always sure what my daily exercise level will be so I plugged sedentary into MFP and to lose a pound a week it suggests 1,320 calories. However, I know that's not even my BMR. So I'm finding myself a little confused.

I tend to get a good hour of moderate pace cardio in a day walking my dog and am starting a new gym regimen this week with a trainers help. We will be focusing on weights.

For the last couple of weeks I have been eating 1,500 cals, but find myself exhausted with just my daily life (which isn't crazy active) and dog walking.

Up the carbs? Up the calories? More water? Needing a little push in the smart direction.

Thanks all!

https://www.supertracker.usda.gov/bwp/ This is what I use - This was suggested on a thread by another MFP user (I forget who, sorry!) but it's fantastic :)

At 20 percent bodyfat it would be 1476 to lose 1 lb week.

Just for fun, I put your info into this calculator that was linked to above. I put 126 days as the simulator length in "expert" mode (you can get to expert mode after you enter all your basic stats). At sedentary and 1500 calories with kind of light daily activities, it shows you reaching the goal of 135 lbs. I added just the hour walk per day, and at 1500 calories total, it has you at goal in 82 days. Same activity setting but 1725 calories total per day has you back to goal weight on day ~122. (remember, these calculations don't include "eating back" any exercise calories.)

Thank you for taking the time to do this! I really do appreciate it. I was eating maybe 1300-1500 and not eating back 200 cals of working out, so I for sure found myself very tired. I'm incorporating more complex carbs for energy and finding it much easier to exist on 1,700 calories.
