What does everyone prefer and why? Are you the type of person who would rather go to a gym and get a workout or someone who loves being at home doing workout videos or using home equipment? And tell me why you like one of the other other or both, give me pros and cons . Also if you are one that enjoys going to the gym.. Tell me what is usually your go to exercise? Ex weights, cardio, abs, ect. I'll tell you I've done both and for me.. I attend a gym (well 2 gyms on separate days) and I also while the weather is nice run outside. I find it's a bit harder for me to focus at home because I have tons of distractions and I tend to have the mindset.. I can quit now if I wanted haha so home videos aren't my favorite. But if someone has any recommendations on at home fitness.. Please free to share!!! I do like going to the gym on less busy days though, and my go to is usually the abs machine or typically weights.. But sometimes I'll take part on the treadmill too.. Just depends on the workout I have planned. Also feel free to share what gym you attend and do you like it? I attend planet fitness and I attend my college campus gym

Through the years I've tried doing cardio at home, step machine, treadmill, workout videos but I never stuck to it. I go to three different gyms currently, 24, work and an athletic training type facility. I really like classes because it's fun to work out with other people IMO and we are expecting each other to show up. Add to that I'm pushed to do things I would never do on my own.0

Now, if only I hadn't spent all that money on wasted equipment! Lol. I take boxing, strength and conditioning and circuit type classes. Once a week I try to take cycle and do a track type workout.

Hahahahahahahahah good point. I'm sure it may come in handy during the winter months maybe or you could probably sell it to someone who loves home fitness videos. I'm glad I got mine for free..it was a great way to see if I could commit to at home workouts. WOW that Is really awesome! Tons of variety. I take a strength andconditioning class too.. (college course toward my major in fitness) and Ive really enjoyed it myself too thus far. Boxing seems like fun..id probably like that too.0 -
I tend to be more motivated when I’m at the gym (I currently have three gym memberships and I also have a home gym). But I opt for convenience and do what makes the most sense.

DVDs would do absolutely nothing for me (other than my yoga DVDs)...
i've always been one for which my exercise has to have some kind of real world translation to other things...prancing around my living room to a DVD just for the sake of doing some exercise would bore me to tears. I like to ride...I enjoy it generally, but it's also enabled me to enter various cycling events as I've gotten better...so there's a real world translation there.
I use the gym to lift weights. I do yoga at home and use DVDs for that.0 -
I would love to get back to the gym but I just can't afford it right now so I'm doing home workouts and go running outside 3-4 times a week.0

I see you are personal trainer. I plan on being certified myself soon. What made you decide to go through NASM?0 -

Hahah. Totally understandable. I agree. Dvds don't do it for me either. Cycling is a great form of exercise in itself! I hear yoga really does have great benefits.. Especially for athletes. I've never done yoga myself.0 -

Hey! No problem! What matters is nothing is keeping you from working out. I love that you run avidly. That's really good!! keep it up!!0 -
Depends for me. I hate lifting so I don't do that at the gym, but I'll lift a bit at home (I have 45 pounds dumbbells, not enough for deadlifts etc but with all the cardio I do my legs are usually too sore to do those anyway, so I don't care).
Right now I mix the gym (treadmill at 10-11% incline for an hour) and the stationary bike at home while I watch Netflix when the kids are in school, with some lifting when I can be bothered. I alternate so I can give my quads and calves a break. I used to walk outside a lot but it's just not worth it to me anymore when I can burn 50% more on the treadmill... I just do it when it's really nice out now (I can't run unfortunately, or I would). Plus the treadmill at the gym has Solitaire so I can play and listen to my music and it makes the hour go much faster.
I have a couple home videos that I like but I don't think that they have give me enough of a burn compared to what I'm doing right now, so I haven't bothered with them in months, even though I really love Les Mills Combat. I could go to the classes at the gym though but I've been chickening out.

Ahh okay. Why do you not like lifting, if you do not mind me asking? Walking is nice. I love walking.. Especially when it's nice. Its great exercise, but I normally run.. And do interval training myself when I'm outside. I do enjoy strength training. I never really considered it until like a couple months back. Now I enjoy it for the most part.. I'm always pushing myself. Yes I think that's my problem with joining classes is I'm too chicken as well haha. That makes both of us. Oh well, maybe one day. I think that's cool you can maintain the same focus at home as you do at the gym. Keep up the good work! Thank you for sharing.0 -

Hahahahahahahahah sorry sir. I know I left you with only two. But you are a total outdoors person so I can take that as an answer too!!!

I like them both and go back and forth.
I like doing the DVD programs so I don't have to think about what to do each day. Right now I'm doing Insanity Max 30 which is fun and I'm gaining a lot of strength. I like that it combines cardio with strength. I do find myself missing the gym so I go on Saturday and do intervals on the elliptical.
When I'm not doing a program I'll go to the gym more often and do combo of elliptical and weights. Just depends on how I feel that day. I'm kind of a loner and sometimes I just can't stand the thought of being around people.0 -
I have a dedicated room at home as a gym which I love (Bench/Free Weights/ Running machiene/Rocky Posters/ Sound System/ Shower Wet room). But I also have a nice gym about ten minutes drive from my house. Both are great depending on what mood I'm in and how sociable I'm feeling. I work hard in both and get a different feeling/experience from both.0

Haha, I've never done insanity? Is it hard? I've only heard it is really hard and challenging. Lol which I imagine so.. The title says everything lol great job though! Someone else told me to try the elliptical at the gym, so I'll give it a try myself too. I totally agree with you! I can't stand the thought of being around tons of people too sometimes. Depends on the mood I'm in and what the circumstances are. I guess I'm used to working out at the gym alone maybe that's why. Unless my mom comes along. When I run outside I run with one other person and I like that.0 -

Very neat! I like the sound of that! I wish I had a home gym. Maybe one day lol. That's on my bucket list now.0
