Protein

Is 15% good for a sedentary person? I was at 20 grams + bodyweight--but i'm not active. I have been experiencing extreme dry skin--which I guess is a possible side-effect of getting too much protein.

Really excessive amounts of protein can cause dehydration, but the amount you are on shouldn't cause problems, unless you are also not drinking much water during the day. Dry skin could be a sign of low dietary fat. What are your macros?0

to the poster above, are you serious?
To the OP, I doubt that the amount of protein you are consuming is actually becoming "toxic" to you to where you are hurting your kidneys.
How about you recheck your sodium, the vitamins and minerals your are consuming in your diet such as magnesium, etc.. You can run reports in MFP that will allow you to see certain data pulled from the foods you log each day.
I also second the question about getting enough "good fats" in the food you are consuming.0 -

How much do you weigh?0

I do 20% protein as sedentary, my prone dry skin only creeps up when i don't drink enough fluids throughout the day. since you are eating more to gain weight, going to guess you are probably eating a lot more sodium than me so you should drink extra water than the norm or non-caffeine liquids..
if you are prone to your face being the driest (worse dry skin area for me), i use a fine spray bottle filled with spring water and spray my face 4-5 times a day with it and it has done wonders at keeping my face hydrated.0 -

you should learn what being sedentary actually means before commenting.
than again sounds like you should learn to automatically not judge by looks first.

OK so if you want to be mysterious I will just let you know that minimum dietary fat should be around 0.4 grams per pound of body weight, and minimum protein should be about 0.8 grams per pound of body weight if you are lifting weights. Max protein I have no idea, but there are many bodybuilders that go up to 1.5 grams per pound or even as high as 2 grams per pound and I have never heard them complaining about skin problems. From your macro post it looks like you are somewhere in a reasonable range, so if those are the kind of numbers you are hitting daily you should be fine nutrition wise. I would guess it is just dehydration from lack of fluid intake. Make an effort to drink a whole lot more water, and if things don't improve, then see a dermatologist.0

Yes, 15% of calorie intake as protein is enough for a sedentary lifestyle.0
