hi all. I am having one of those days where I feel I could just eat eat eat. I am at work and that's good because I have limited food but I am actually sitting here thinking what I could eat later what I could order none of it is food that I should eat I pre logged lunch because that is what I brought. I guess my question is does anyone have any tips or tricks (bad choice of words but that was all I could think of) to make me stop obsessing over food!

Simply - ask yourself how important your goal is to you. Ask yourself if eating, eating, eating will get you there.

This usually works for me. Hang in there! :)

agree with above poster but also I find that when I drink plenty of water & tea (with no sugar), I feel fuller so then I get less cravings. I chew minty gums too, that helps!

When I was pregnant, I used to be convinced that I was craving hot chips, because after work I would have to walk past a fragrant fast food restaurant on the way to my train. All I could think was "chips chips chips chips". 'Pregnancy cravings!' I'd think...
I would go home and have my not-chips dinner and suddenly the craving would go away. Ever since then I've reminded myself that hunger is hunger, and just because my brain is fixating on the most simple/pleasurable foods it can, doesn't mean my body won't be satisfied with something healthier. I may fantasise about a donut, and then eat an apple, and feel perfectly content. Hell, I can even enjoy the fantasy! Remembering tasty food can be enjoyable.
I also drink tea and chew gum when it's probably just bored hunger, and that usually pretty much shuts my brain up too.

I would go for a 30 minute walk, then re evaluate my hunger. If i really want it, I'll walk a little more and give myself a bigger net to offset the full caloric hit.

Drink some water. Its hard to tell sometimes the difference between hunger and thirst. Isnt your goal more important? I look forward to the day as a new start and keeping my goals in check.

I do not know if this helps, but I think about food all day and all night. For me, I just allow my mind to think about all the things I would like to eat but I know I wont. I think about food all day, but once I eat what I am supposed to eat I am ok. Maybe I am weird but its fun for me to think about ice cream and chocolate and burgers. I even tell people what I would like to eat and they tell me to eat it and I say no but I enjoy just thinking about it.
