cost on sale about 62 cents a bar !!!
quest bars in my area are $1.89
I tried really hard to like the Pure Protein bars. I just can't do it. The chocolate tastes funny, and they're gritty.0 -
Pemmican made from buffalo meat and tallow
I always bring lots of pemmican when playing Oregon Trail.
I like Quest Bars, but I don't buy them a lot because money
I really like the Clif Builders bars - I have the mint ones now. Macros aren't quite as good as Quest, but they taste good and I have them for breakfast sometimes if I'm in a huge hurry.0 -
I got a box of Victory Bars in chocolate chip cookie dough, and they are yummy.0

Initially, I really liked the Quest Protein bars & still would (favorite flavors: Brownie, PB&J) but as an insulin-dependent diabetic, the Quest bars were awful for my blood sugar. One Quest bar would raise my blood sugar by 40 mg/dL and make me hungry for a 2nd one, which would lead to a 3rd and so on until I ate the whole box of 12 bars within 1 hour--at which point, my glucometer couldn't even measure what my blood sugar was due to it exceeding the range of the meter. I got seriously addicted to those Quest bars & couldn't stop eating them which led to eating a lot of other crappy food and I ended up gaining 39 pounds in 6 weeks (i.e. 39 of the 56 pounds I had previously lost). I finally got myself off of them by substituting with a Diabetic Kitchen bar which only raised my blood sugar by 15 mg/dL after eating one bar and didn't make me feel like eating more than just one. True, the Diabetic Kitchen bars don't taste as good as the Quest bars as they are less sweet but that is probably a good thing for me at this time. Nowadays, I only eat about one or two Diabetic Kitchen bars (my favorite: Vanilla Almond) per week to hold me over until I get time to prepare a decent meal--they have also been useful during all the cross-country air travel I do.0

Metagenics Protein Fusion has a low carb and sugar alcohol chocolate protein bar. THE BEST EVER. Just expensive.0

I actually like the Pure Protein bars; they're a lower calorie with a higher protein and don't cost a million dollars. I don't find them gritty and they work to satisfy a sweet fix for me.0

Zone Perfect, the fudge graham flavor. It's only got 14 grams of protein, but it tastes just like one of those Quaker Oats chewy chocolate chip granola bars. I like that it doesn't taste like a protein bar.0

Besides quest, I like pure protein chocolate peanut butter.0

Here's what I've got in my current rotation:
Oh Yeah - Almond Fudge and Chocolate Caramel
Premier Protein - Chocolate Peanut Butter and Mint Chocolate
Quest - Cookies and Cream and Double Chocolate Chunk
Zone - Fudge Graham and Chocolate Peanut Butter
Kashi - Chocolate and Sea Salt0 -
I make my own but if I'm needing something and I'm stuck for options then I'll grab a quest or kind bar.0

I tried a Quest bar once and found it disgusting, although I've heard some flavors are better than others, so I may have to try another flavor some time. I'm also on a budget, and Quest bars are way too expensive for me.
I eat a protein bar as a snack almost every day, so I don't need as huge a protein kick as I would if I was using it as a meal replacement. I'm also a picky eater, and don't like any nuts (although I love peanut butter), so that makes it difficult as well. I try to find something for about 200 calories or less, with 12g or more of protein. This fits into my macros just fine. My favorites are:
Luna Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough
Think Thin Brownie Crunch
Zone Perfect Double Dark Chocolate
I also buy individual bars at the grocery store once in a while, just to try out different kinds. Haven't found any that I like as much as the above, though.0 -
Tried a new one last week and loved it ~ Oatmega Dark Chocolate and PB. 190 kcal for 14g protein. I also bought a mint chocolate one. Haven't tried it yet, but if it's as0

I tried the think thin bars and they gave me horrendous gas. Yes, TMI. Same with Quest. I'm thinking it's the artificial sweeteners, but I do use sweetnlow in my coffee every morning without issue. So far, the only kind that don't mess with my intestines are the Kind bars. I really like the dark chocolate cherry cashew kind. But they have a ridiculous amount of honey in them and not that much protein. I think it was 9g.0

Larabars - Chocolate Cherry Torte, Blueberry Muffin, Apple Pie, Banana Bread
I recognize all the ingredients (Banana Bread is almonds, dates and unsweetened bananas) and they come in around 200 calories for 4g-6g of protein - I usually eat them while walking on the golf course...

I actually never thought about it that way until you mentioned it - I like the flavors and the all natural ingredients - but I guess it is low on the protein count... I stand corrected about Larabars being a protein bar...
