Take-Away Suggestions (UK) welcome - Pizza/Kebab, Indian or Chinese?

I know this has been covered by other threads but I need some help and the threads I saw didn't cover as much as I am asking and I'm hoping for some fresh ideas:

We have a celebration coming up and the kids want a take-away as a treat. We don't do it often but when we have in the past I really went crazy and consumed probably two to three days worth of calories - but that was the old me.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, can you offer me some suggestions for:-

1. The best take-away to go for in your opinion (Pizza/Kebab, Indian or Chinese)

and

2. The meals you personally recommend when it comes to lower calories so as not to kill my diet completely (if they are on the MFP database even better but I know that's a long shot).

There is nothing I don't like when it comes to take-away although I like my Indian food to be mild-medium (I don't mind a spicy pizza or kebab sauces for some reason). ANY pizza toppings are fine for me and there's nothing on a Chinese menu I wouldn't try.

So what do you guys do when it comes to take-aways?

ANY and all suggestions are welcome. Thank you so much for your advice.

P.S. I am saving up some calories for the week before the meal and plan to work out early on the day itself too.

Personally, I would get the one you really want and keep portion size under control. One meal isn't worth worrying about - it is what you do consistently over time which determines results.

If I were forced to pick one thing however then Shish kebabs would be the winner (not doner *shudder*). Can't go wrong with grilled meat, salad and a pitta ;)

Get whichever you'll enjoy eating the most, and just have a plan for self-limiting how much you eat. Maybe if there's a dish you and your kids love, you get your portion and the rest to them instead of ordering extra.

I love my take aways too and have tried not to cut them out so as not to deprive the other half.

I get the Tesco microwave wholegrain rice and have a half a portion of that with my Chinese. I also just have half the dish. The next day I might have the other half or he can bring it in for lunch.

I was on this site maybe a day or two and got a small pizza. I had a very serious wake up call. I thought I was being good getting a small pizza. It was more than 1 days calories. I haven't had pizza since.

Agree that the kabob could be low in calories, esp if it does not come with a sauce or with a sauce on the side. I am comfortable with pizza if the restaurant has the calories posted -- two or three slices of a medium cheese pizza could fit into your day.
Sometimes it is the side dishes that bring up the calorie count unexpectedly.
The other options might work fine too but I am less familiar with them.

Oh now there is a good idea - never thought of that before. Tesco is my best friend at the moment - their website is great for checking my calories etc. We always shopped there anyway and their site is great.

Hmmm combining Tesco rice to bulk up the take-away - neat idea.

Yeah I use Tescos too to check my calories. Sure I live right beside one so its handy. Enjoy your take away whatever you get. If you're going to splurge do it guilt free :)

If it's a once in a while thing, I'm very much of the opinion that you should just enjoy yourself, choose what you like and take the calorie count on the chin. One meal is not going to 'kill your diet'. One meal a month is not going to 'kill your diet'.

    But...

I always lean towards pizza, because I can get the nutrition info off the website (I usually go for Pizza Hut) and it lasts me multiple meals and I can usually only eat about 3 slices at a time which for the one I have adds up to around 1000 calories so I am happy to accept that for a takeaway night!
