Tea Detoxing

I've changed my whole lifestyle, I now exercise 6 days a week, eat healthy foods, and drink lots of water. Still, I'm curious to see if I can really benefit from a cleanse. Has anyone tried a detox tea and do they work?

They're mostly laxatives. What kind of benefits are you looking for?0

Almost all of the commercial detox teas on the market contain natural laxatives and diuretics. The only things they remove are water, waste, and money from your wallet. Your body does a fine job of detoxing itself if you let it.0

Like water retention bloat? Or constipation bloat?
You can address either of these without an over-priced and over-hyped tea.0 -

I used them back in the days when I didn't know any better. My friends and I called them "poopoo" teas. The results are temporary at best. Save your money and drink some free water.0

It could just be me but I've found that peppermint tea helps me when I'm bloated.0

Thanks everyone! I will definitely consider your suggestions.0

If you're suddenly eating healthier, it could be added fiber and/or protein from your new diet that's making you feel bloated. Give yourself some time and it will settle down. In the meanwhile, take something like Gas-X for temporary relief.0

Your body already cleanses itself. Most of those teas are laxatives, so save your money.0

I noticed that when I've been eating much better, I don't have to "go" as often, sometimes for days, thus I'm feeling really crummy. What has helped to a degree is eating FiberOne bread instead of regular bread. I already eat lots of fruit and veggies, but apparently I need more fiber to help move stuff along...0

Make sure you're getting enough of fiber, fats and fluids - shoot for hitting your fiber and fat goals if possible. That should help keep things moving along. I struggle with fiber myself so I'll probably be investing in a supplement or some FiberOne type snacks to help compensate.
I tend to bloat when I eat more carbs and/or sodium than usual - my belly sticks out more and my ankles swell some, too.
If you aren't paying attention to your sodium intake, maybe start doing so and see if reducing that helps. For me, staying around the default 2300mg helps keep the bloat and such down.

If you've overhauled your diet and in the process included more vegetables than you're used to, it could be the fiber. Detox teas don't do anything except give you diarrhea.0

I drink Yogi brand detox tea fairly often but primarily because I like the flavor better than most teas. It does seem to help keep things moving along nicely but I wouldn't use it as a 'cleanse' necessarily, it's just a nice addition to breakfast.0

If your poop constipated try eating a banana. I don't know why it works but my gf's mom told me once and it really worked lol!0
