hello, does anyone know why daily sugar allowance (per my food chart) is so low. I seem to be over the max after eating an apple and couple of plums. Any thoughts?
Thanks
Thanks

Hello. I set my daily goal at 1500 calories but carbs, sugar etc info populate automatically. I will look To change following your instruction. Need my sugar from fruit at least :-) thanks for responding0

iirc MFP's default is actually the recommendation for ADDED sugars. A lot different than going over from a banana, apple, and 3 servings of carrots in a day...0

I did less than 25g for two weeks, fruits and added included. It was tough but man did my skin clear up. It really should go back to that but maintaining that indefinitely is a struggle. You can watch your sugar but for MFP to calculate it you will need to pull out the fruits and naturally sweetened foods like John mentioned.0

if you want to eat fruits and want to keep sugar to a minimum, blackberries, raspberries and strawberries are great choices (besides being more fiber and nutrient dense than the standard bananas, apples and oranges).0

Wow...25g would be tough. John, you just listed my daily fruit. I will switch to berries and know for sure to stay away from plums. Had no idea they have so much sugar. Thanks for all responses.0

Sugar is 15% of calories, so 45g minimum at 1200 calories. That's all sugars from all sources. An apple is about 10-15g so 2 or 3 portions of fruit a day fit into the limit.0

Would it be possible for someone to not have much success with weight loss because of a too high sugar content from eating a lot of fruit?0
-
No, unless you have medical issues with sugar consumption. Generally healthy people would only have trouble losing weight if they consume too many calories.0

It is thought that those with insulin resistance will have a harder time losing because of the higher insulin levels caused by too much sugar. For most people, it will make little difference.0
