NSV: found my motivation!

so, i've been in a workout/motivation slump since i got back from my vacation. in AUGUST. but, after a whiny forum post yesterday, i kind of woke up and found some perspective. thanks for the kind/harsh works, fellow MFPers. I needed that!

I went to the gym and did a halfway decent workout. (it's so weird how quickly you can fall off track when you don't go as often as you used to.)

and then, i bought myself new workout clothes on amazon. i only had 2 4-year-old sports bras and 2 pairs of pants and ratty tank tops. but i found some champion tanks that were under $5 each as add-ons and got some new bras/pants. and i'm pumped! look good, feel good!

I'm gonna start bringing my gear to work, too, so i can cut out time spent walking home from the train to change and get going sooner to reduce the chances of bailing.

So, just generally feeling positive, motivated, excited to get going again.

If anyone is feeling the way I was yesterday, I feel your pain and am here to chat if you need some encouragement!

Congratulations on your new perspective and finding your mojo! Sometimes for me, I can think myself out of activity or watching my food intake. I simply do them now and accept it is part of my everyday routine.

Thanks so much for posting this today. You convinced me to take my workout clothes to the hotel where I have a 5 day conference next week and use their treadmill!

Great follow up post! Thanks for sharing and you have a great attitude. The sentence in bold is key for me. I really enjoy my gym time, but even so, if I go home to change first it can easily derail me. Packing and carrying an extra bag every day can be a bit of a hassle, but I've made it a habit now and it is worth it.

Thanks! Yeah, the small hassle of carrying an extra bag is not nearly as bad as the weight of defeat when you skip a gym day. i can't wait to get my new gear and toss it in a bag and feel all.. athletic. :)

thanks! and yeah, i've been trying to do the same. if nothing else, i don't make excuses or bail on workouts even a fraction as often as i did a year ago. i used to blow off the gym for weeks at a time, but in the past five or six months, the longest i've gone without working out was a week, and that's only happened twice. if i don't make the 3 days i want to make it there, i at least get in 2. it's not perfect, but i've come a long way. it's hard to forget that sometimes :)
