Dog fitness buddies

Anyone trying to get healthy w the help if their pooches? Or maybe getting our dogs healthy along w us? Would love to have some dog enthusiasts as MFP friends. I have 2 short leggers, a Bassett Hound and a Corgi. Just started 1 mile walks w them, 3x a week. They love it for sure. Feel free to add me.

I have a little weiner dog, she's about 10 years old. Her little 4 inch legs can't keep up at the pace I want to walk or the distance, so my friend is giving me a baby stroller she no longer needs tomorrow. I'm excited! I just started mfp and exercising, so being able to take my dog with me on walks is going to make it more fun than walking alone. And I can't wait to see people's faces while we're out. lol

I have a 2 year old Shiba Inu (in my profile pic). I walk with her and recently started C25K with her (and a human friend  )

I have a pit bull mix and a mutt (maybe border collie/corgi mix?) - I've recently been exercising them more lately, but unfortunately they slow me down so I don't go jogging with them. They love the exercise though, and I enjoy them being worn out afterwards!

I love the stroller idea! I take Sadie and Daisy to the bike trail w me. We just walk which is fine for me right now. We are doing a mile and a half, my corgi is 9 so I don't know if we will increase it alot. But yeah, tired dogs are good dogs at our house!! Hoping by next spring to hit the bike trails w actual bikes and I would love to get one over those pull along enclosed things for little kids to put the dogs in. That might be a little heavy w like 100 lbs in it tho lol

I run with my only dog that isn't very old. I just putter-walk the other two as they like, the cuties.

We don't run long, but we try to go fast because that's her thing! Today she faked me out bigtime, and I tripped on her lead and got a bit hurt. That's the only problem with her! She's crazy  She's a Catahoula and really my Dad's dog, but I run her for exercise for us both.

I take my lab/ collie mix and lab out walking everyday. I'm have access to a great area where I can let them off leash on a dirt trail. I'm working my way up from walking to a slow-as-a-turtle jog. We love it!

I have a springer/whippet cross. He's only just over a year so he's completely crazy. I take him running on and off the lead depending how busy it is.
He keeps me on my feet though. I always feel bad only taking him one walk so it's usually 2 or three a day when I'm off.

I have a Boxer/GSD x and a Great Dane/Dalmatian x. One is 6, the other about 2. But they are so lazy! 15 minutes worth of walking and they're done, I am dragging them to keep up.

We just adopted two pups, not sure exactly what they are, but I'm guessing a whippet/shepherd mix.
I try to run with them but they are too fast, and seem annoyed that I'm holding them back. LOL
Now I let my husband try and keep up with them in the lead, I run behind at my own pace.

I have a Corgi mix (probably Cardigan Welsh corgi and heeler plus whatever....she's a pound pup), and we walk between 3 - 5 miles every morning. I live in the forest, and we generally trot on down our road, hop a fence, and we're in the woods. She has a ball. I actually have to go get ready for my walk right now; she's looking at me like "come on, Mom!" so friend me!!! Corgis are the BEST!!! Walking with one and a Basset Hound must be a total hoot.

Anyone care to guess what they are?
They've grown very long and lean, very long back legs, and they usually have their ears curled backwards against their head (very cute)..

Trying to find a pic with the ear curl, here's Whiskey with one....

Yes they are! Can't have a dog of my own, but I pet sit a little corgi mix. Now I know why people love them so much. And those short legs never seem to get tired. A corgi mix is the best dog to adopt for someone who wants to walk or run with a dog and doesn't want a large breed. Not only can I not outrun or tire out this pup, his medium-tall, athletic male owner can't, either.

I have a chihuahua/corgi mix that I take on walks and hikes with whenever I can. He's great, despite his size he can still keep ahead of me for miles.

I'd love to try to run him, but he gets too distracted, so it would he a hassle.

My favorite running buddy... She tolerates a couple miles 'easy', but her favorite runs are when I go fast! (Sorry the pic is so big, not sure how to make it smaller.)

This is Kady, a rescue dog from a small village about 14 hours north of us here in Vancouver BC. She's a husky-something-something-something mix. I like to say she helped save my life.

Since we started regular running together last September (she was three years old at the time) she has run with me 95% of the 1,906 kilometers I've run to date, missing out on a couple of races and any run > 20km (or even less in the heat). Now that it's cool again here I doubt she'll miss out on any run shorter than 25km.

I definitely noticed an improvement in her own fitness (weight was never a problem... for her!) as we started to ramp up our running. I definitely experienced an improvement in my own fitness!

Her and my favourite place to run is in the mountains; this image was taken along one of our regular routes to Norvan Falls just north of Vancouver, a 14 - 19km hilly out and back depending on the route we take:

On my bike, I'm teaching my dog left and right. Quite comical.
