Individuals have widely different caloric needs. At 60 years old, 5'1" and 105 pounds, I maintain at around 1350 with moderate exercise. The statement that even children need 1500-1800 calories is totally wrong.

It's like some people have never heard of short people before. Or gods beware, short older people.
There are also rumours of a mysterious race called 'women', but these people know this is all just conspiracy!

My stats are similar to yours.

I'm 5'2 - 125 lbs. I have a very, very sedentary job (sitting all day, everyday) and I work out 4 times a week (a mix between cardio and weight training). I lose around 0.5lb a week on 1500 calories per day. As you are a healthy weight, this is the rate of loss you should be expecting - however your 'need' for loss is barely there.

I lose weight based on the above ^^.
I do not 'kill myself in the gym', I work out and I eat my 1500 a day. I do *not* have regular 'Cheat days' because I feel I can happily include most foods into my allowance. I'd say your one 'day off' is causing the weight stalling - You are probably packing too many calories into this one day thus decreasing the deficit even more. As we are on a 250 deficit, we don't have much wiggle room. (Hence why I make sure everything is counted!)

To lose the weight, you'll need to be ultra tight with your logging and weighing. This is literally vital for me at this stage.

    welcome to short girl problems

    you HAVE to move

you cant not. I only burn 1300 a day with just work so if i want to eat I have to go for a walk

So I invested in a treadmill

sorry girl, you got the "short end" of the stick

dont want to move extra? then you NEED a food scale and you NEED to log every single morsel FOREVER

This isn't helpful advice. This just encourages obsessive behaviour around food and weight. That's anorexic behaviour, watching every morsel you put in your mouth and weighing food. Weighing food is for cooking and measuring the correct ingredients not for weighing everything you eat!

Nobody's basal metabolic rate is that low, even if you're short! Even children need like 1500-1800 calories! I wouldn't take the basal metabolic rate thing too seriously. Everybody's body is different. Height isn't always a factor as some shorter people may have faster metabolisms. Most women need 1800-2000 calories to maintain weight leading a very sedentary lifestyle. The more active you are the more calories your body needs to maintain your weight even if you're short!

My BMR is 1350 at 5'1" and age 45. If I get 10,000 steps a day in, I can eat around 1750 to maintain my current weight. If I don't get 10,000 steps in, it's more like 1450. This is all based on actual data on my weight and food intake over time. It's the way it is for short people, especially as we get older.
  • My thyroid stopped working. Now it's very hard. Maybe get yours checked?

I'm 5ft short and aged 67. I weigh and measure solids and calorific liquids most of the time [unless eating out]. I do little exercise compared to most people posting on here but burn about 300 calories a week on my stationary bike. I do not eat these calories back. I consume just under 1200 calories a day [eg 1178] I have lost 11lbs in 6 weeks which I am really pleased with.

My point is I am 2" shorter and a whole lot older than you and I do a lot less exercise than you - but I am consistently losing weight on 1200 calories a day. If you are eating 1200 calories a day and exercising you should be doing the same [unless you have a medical problem of course]. I can only think that you are actually eating a lot more than 1200 calories a day.

It would be really easy to wipe out your weekly calorie deficit with 1 day of not logging, even with healthy foods.
