Any tall women out there?

6'2" here. Started at 261lb, now 223. Aiming for 180, so I'm almost half way there. Jeans size dropped from a 20 and now 18 is a bit big but 16 is a bit tight (although I can zip them up!). I don't think I'll wear smaller than a 14 due to build, but I'm OK with that. Being able to shop other than plus sizes will make me happy......0

Excellent progress photos, thanks for posting!
I'm 5'10'' and started at 102.4 kg. I think my goal weight might be a bit above 70 kg, but that remains to see.0 -
I am also a tall woman who has seen success! I'm 5'11 and I've lost that many lbs (points to ticker). I started at 215 lbs, so just subtract that. I started in size 16 jeans (and they were TIGHT). I'm now in size 14 and they're a little baggy in the thigh (they're The Flirt by old navy-- so a little stretchy!). In dresses I was a solid 16. With 40 lbs lost, I am a size 12 dress. I'm also now a normal BMI. I want to get down to 149 lbs (66 lbs lost).0

I'm 5'9"
SW: 210 (a very tight size 14)
CW: 163 (size 10)
GW: 150 (who knows?)
I'm about 3 pounds away from my high school weight. I'm 33, so that was a while ago! I really thought I would probably bump my GW up when I hit 160, as I couldn't imagine being any smaller than I was in high school. I'm pear shaped, though, and I still have some work to do on my bottom half. However, I'm focusing less and less on weight loss and more on strength training.0 -
This is a fun thread to read! Very encouraging!
I'm 5'10" and started at 330 pounds. At that point I wore a size 26 but now, at 270, I'm in 24s and 22s (so glad I saved those jeans!). I'm hoping to get to a 12 or so. GW is 150-160 (I have a small frame) depending on how I look and feel when I get there.0 -
In for tall, hot ladies. :bigsmile:0

I am 5 foot 10 large frame starting at 239 size 16 jeans tight fit...now 215 still size 16 loose fit. I dont remember ever being below a 16...I know I was as I was bypassing it at age 10 or 12. Even when I got married to my late hubby back in 1984 I was a size 20. I am aiming for a 14 but who knows maybe there is a chance to go smaller. Its uncharted territory.
Anyone who wants a tall friend is welcome to add me.0 -

5'10!
Started at 200lbs, currently at 164 lbs.
My initial goal was 150 but I've got a pretty tiny frame and don't carry weight well at ALL, so I'm shooting lower.
Last I checked, I was a size 13-14. I no longer wear pants though (just skirts and dresses and leggings) so I don't know my current size hah.

Love this thread! I'm 5'10.5 myself. Not a success yet...but 1/3 of the way there now0

Great Thread! I am 5'11 and weigh 182. At my heavist I was 196! I wear a size ten, but hopefully once i lose ten more pounds I will be back in my size 8 jeans!0

Bumping this awesomen thread again!
I am 6'0. My starting weight was 300lbs. Using myfitnesspal, eating what I love in smaller portions, working out with Gilad, and just keeping myself thinking positive.....I am now down 45lbs as of today! My goal is another 105lbs , but I'll adjust that higher or lower when I get closer. I want to be healthy . My pant size was 22 but today I'm in an 18. Before my first kiddo I was a size 10 and 135lbs. We'll see!
Good luck to all! And thanks for the extra inspiration from all my tall friends in here!!0 -
Well, you all seem to be taller than me. 5'7". But I work with one girl two inches taller than me and she's filled out, very filled out, and only 5 to 10 pounds over weight. I'm next taller to her and we both understand being big.
I'm naturally a very thick person, when I was 129 pounds, I was wearing a size 9. So my getting into those little sizes is impossible.
I'm a size 14/16, lost 5+ and still wear 14\16. Thought not as tight.0 -
I'm 5'10. At my heaviest, I was 267 and wore a size 18 in everything.
I am currently 166 and wear a size 6 in pants. I have broad shoulders and generally carry most extra weight in the upper body, so I wear size large in most shirts but a few mediums will work.0 -
6' tall. Started at 237, size 20 pants. Now 171, size 14 pants. 66# gone, a few more to go. I'm 74 - proof that you are never too old to do this!0
-
I'm 5' 9.5" and I started at around 315 lbs wearing a tight 24. The smallest I ever was was about 145, and I wore a size 10. Still I have a really large frame and 145 was really to small for me.
I'm the most comfortable around160-165. I'm still losing but my current measurements are 43-33-46 and I'm in a size 14.0 -
I am 5'9'' - have lost 30+ pounds, size 10 pants and a medium top @ 163 pounds - still dedicated to dropping 18 more pounds.0

I am so grateful to see all these comments from tall ladies! Nice to know that I am not the only one who knows that a size 6-8-10 is their size! (I wouldn't want to be rail thin- I like having some curves!
I'm about a size 14 now and 180lbs. My goal is to eat better and move my body more to feel better. I am used to being about 156 and a size 8 in Canada. Feel free to add me if you'd like some new pals. I have used the calorie tracker before but never thought to use the community available as well0 -
This is such a brilliant thread!
I'm 6ft, highest weight was 278lb. I don't clearly know my size because I lived in leggings! I think I was around 20/22- snug!
I'm now 231lb and I put on size 16 (UK) skinnys straight from the dryer this morning and didn't have a muffin top! It's so interesting to see the size 10s and 8s ect, I never believed I could get there but now I'm starting to hope.
While I'm here on a tall thread, what calories did you successful ladies generally eat? MFP has me on 1370 at the moment... Seems a bit harsh for a 6ft obese woman.0 -
I'm 5'10", I started at sz 20, now I'm a 14/16. I've lost 24lbs and 30". I used to wear 2x now I wear regular xl tops. I'm only 1/4 of the way to my goal :-)

Hi! I'm 5'11" and at my heaviest, was pushing 260. At that weight I was a size 16/18.
I'm down to 230 as of yesterday morning and I wear an 11/12 now. My goal weight is 180 and I'm thinking that will put me around a size 6. I'm very curvy and have a heavy frame- my wrists are ~7 inches in circumference.
The below photo is from about 4 lbs ago so I've lost more since then.
Don't put yourself down and tell yourself it can't be done before you try. Also, it's more about how you feel and things fit, rather than defining things by numbers you see on the scale or on your pants tags. Persevere!
Im at 241 now and if I look this good with just 11lbs gone, I'll be a happy lady!!0 -
5'10" here!
At my highest I was 260 and was stuffing myself into 20s. I carry my weight in my hips so for a long time I didn't drop a size at all. At one point I lost 30lbs in 3 months, really busting my butt, and I didn't go down a size in anything. So disappointing. I was in an 18 all the way between 245 and 200 ish. Some where in the 190s I went to a goodwill and found a pristine pair of old navy jeans in a 14, and hey, only 5 bucks, might as well get them for later. Went home and tried them on for giggles, and I actually got them zipped up. A bit tighter than I prefer (as someone who wears yoga pants for a living) but I was so happy that i'd skipped 16s all together.
Then, about a month ago (somewhere between 186 and 183, don't remember), I was getting to the point where I couldn't really wear anything in my closet without looking like a bag lady. So I went out to old navy to find that style of jeans my 14s were and see where I was at now. I spent 20 minutes in the changing room grinning like a fool because I fit into 12s.
I'm currently at 179 and stuck between 12/14, depending on the brand and style. I always thought because i'm so tall i'd never get into anything smaller than a 10. I've since discovered I actually have a rather small frame and now i'd be very freakishly happy to get to an 8, but a 10 will do With any luck i'll get there before new years.0 -
It is interesting how we all carry our weight differently. I'm 5'10" and currently wearing a 12/14. I've never really been smaller than a 10 in jeans, even when I weighed 138 (lowest adult weight ever - yay breastfeeding!). I was a 10 when I weighed 155, too. I did the wrist test and according to that, I'm small boned but my mom has always described me as "big-boned", so I don't know!0

That is so true. I'm 5'10 and 170ish and wearing an 8. I'm 'small framed' which I just learned yesterday so hypothetically I could go to a 4, I think (I've got 16.6lbs still to go). I think that's another reason we shouldn't get hung up on size. Whatever feels good for you is the size you should be -- within healthy range of course.0 -
I'm 5'9, I started this journey a year ago this week. I weighed 280 pounds wearing a 20W, and it was tight and uncomfortable, I probably should have been in a 22W but I refused to buy a larger size. I probably looked like a sausage but denial is a powerful thing. I now weigh between 180 and 183....I've been bouncing around the last few days. I now wear a 12 and some of them are loose. I wore a 10 to a gala last week and I want to get down to 175. So another 5-8 pounds. I will likely end up a size 12/10 depending on the cut. I would make a suggestion that you visit a department store and get out the same outfit in descending sizes.
I think it may be helpful to see size the transitions. I have been forced into shopping by virtue of having nothing that fit. When I wandered over to the misses section I fell apart because nothing fit and I had no idea what size I was. A friend gave me a beautiful skirt and I thought no way will I be able to wear this, especially since it runs small....wrong!!!
I have curves, boobs and hips, and I kept thinking and on occasion buying garments that was too large. My daughter did an intervention, no I don't start with 20W, I start with 14 and work my way down. Good luck!0 -
When I first read your post I thought I had already responded to the initial question of tall women. Our stories mirror, and our thought processes and phrasing too....I'm still laughing!!!! Thank you for showing me I'm not the only one!!!!

Hiya! I'm 5'9" my highest weight at one point was 237 pounds! Now I'm at 191 I've fluctuated from 187-192 but I've worked myself to basically 50 pounds lost! Hoping this app finally helps me lose these last 25 pounds I've been trying to shed! But if I was able to lose about 50 pounds then so can you!!! You can do it!!! Since losing the weight I become a professional dog walker and just recently started up my own dog walking business I would have never been able to do such a physically demanding job if I didn't shed the extra weight I did so far!!!0

I'm 6'1, and started out at around 155kg / 340lbs. Now down to 103kg / 226lbs. At my highest weight I was looking like a sausage into Australian plus size 24's (I'm guessing that would be like a regular 26?28?) and now I'm in Australian 16/18's (US 14?) depending on the cut of the pants. I'm a pear shape though, so I keep most of my weight below the waist.0
