Feel pressured.

Dear community, I've been going to the gym and watching my calories for the last 7 weeks. I've been doing really well until I get to work.
I have competitions and they give you prizes there. One of the things they give you is your choice from a deep fried buffet or deli. I appreciate the award but I'm really watching my calories because my cholesterol is real high. I feel like if I don't eat it, they might view me as ungrateful and treating me different
This sounds silly

I don't know what to do!!!!!0

you have to do it for you,, and only you,,, no one else!0
-
so the entire buffet is deep fried? even the salad bar?0

Tell them your cholesterol is high! Ask if a substitute prize is possible and if not, tell them you would like to give it to the "runner-up".0

Perhaps there's a healthy choice at the deli? If not, give your award to someone else.
I would campaign for healthy food options or non-food rewards like a choice of gift cards. I'm sure you're not the only one watching calories.0 -
Can you suggest they change to healthier options?
In the meantime, all you can do is make the right choices for your own health. Sure, people might treat you differently, but then, you are treating yourself differently, with good reason!0 -
I'd take healthy choices from the deli.0

Accept the award and ask that either the gift cards or amount allotted to the deli/buffet be given to the local food bank.0

Thanks guys0

That was what I wondered! I've never been to a buffet that doesn't have at least a few lower calorie choices.0 -
Make a stand. Graciously refuse the prize because it doesn't conform to your dietary restrictions. Maybe you can make the situation better for future winners.0

Deli sandwich made with turkey & veggies, or a salad if they make them.0

That's just weird to me. I mean.... it's great that you've won whatever the competition is, but why you have to feel pressured to eat the prize is a little puzzling. LOL! To me it should be plenty good enough just that you won. Does it mean you aren't worthy of winning if you don't want the food?
I wouldn't think twice about not eating it if nothing offered fits your goals, and especially if you have a medical reason to steer clear of it.0 -
If you don't think eating out fits your goals right now, then why not give it to someone who looks like they could use it? Gift cards are great for donating!
