21 Day Fix and Still Counting Calories

Hello I was first wondering if anyone that used 21 day had good results? I recently got a trainer, shakeology, and I am trying to get back on the wagon so she recommended the 21 day fix. Which was free with the shakeology. I still want to count an track calories so since I like to write stuff down as well as keep track on here. Would I still be able to count calories, I know that sounds dumb but I know the point with the diet isn't to really have to count calories.

You don't need either the 21 Day Fix or the Shakeology - it's just a waste of your money. If the "trainer" is the one who sold you the shakeology then you do need a new trainer.0

I haven't done it, no. But if you want the most accurate calorie counts possible you'll have to weigh what you're eating, which means you really don't need the cups for anything.0

Since you've already made the purchase, go ahead and count calories too. That will show you how easy it is to use MFP, and it will also point out how uneccessary 21 Day Fix & Shakeology are.
After 21 Days....you can just eat regular food & log portions (unless you enjoy using the colorful tupperware). That will help you during maintenance....lifestyle changes.

I don't know, I can see this working in your favor. Between weighing and using the portion sizes for the 21 day fix might be a good way to help teach portion control. It's all about your attitude - if this feels like a good way to go all in, then do it. Don't bother with the naysayers... It's all opinions, as is mine. Good luck!!0

It isn't just opinion if you think about it. Say you want to fill your protein and veggie containers. You will fit different amounts in each if you chop the food up small vs putting larger pieces in. That's going to make the calorie count vary, and you won't know how much it's varying by unless you put it on a scale.

I do 21 Day Fix without the containers. The workouts themselves are great and I love the variety. That being said, the program did get me to start eating more vegetables which was great for me. I don't do Shakeology, as I feel it's a waste of money and can be replaced by many things. I started at 131 pounds in August and now I'm 118 pounds. No, I am not a beachbody coach, nor affiliated with them in any way. I didn't even buy the dvds.0

OP said she was still counting calories; impossible to do unless you are somehow measuring. Those cups are just containers; if she's counting calories TOO then she's measuring somehow.

tTo be honest I don't get the hype with shakeology it's kinda taste like every other protein shake. An after this month I don't plan an on getting it again.0 -

Good choice. I get Hulk Rage that BB tries to convince people that they need to buy a $130 protein powder.
Agreed! I really like their workouts but I'm always hesitant to say that, especially here on MFP, because they have such a bad rep due to the MLM side of things. The whole "Coach" system is awful, filled with uninformed people giving out awful advice to others who don't know any better. They just became coaches to get discounts on Shakeology and the programs. Shakeology really is overpriced. I feel like people who claim it did all these things for them are simply experiencing a placebo effect. I've tried it and it tastes fine, yeah, but there were no benefits to me. Especially not $130 per month benefits. $130 pays my electric bill, cellphone bill, AND a week's worth of train fare to commute to and from work.0 -
I would get rid of the trainer. They are just using their position to sell you on ridiculously expensive things. I like the BB workouts (they are what got me into fitness) but I would never touch any of their nutrition. In fact, if you like the "nutrition" of shakeology, you can get more from a NatureMade multivitamin and then you can add in a good protein shake you like.
But since you are going to do it for a month, I would also take that time to research a good lifting program like new rules of lifting for women, strong lift 5x5, or strong curves and use the trainer to work on your form.0 -
