Hi all, I'm buying an exercise bike this weekend and wondered if they are good for buring calories and toning.

It's like anything else, you get back what you put into it.
I run & I ride and cycling can be a great way to get into shape and, assuming you eat at a deficit, help shed the pounds. If your exercise bike has a built in calorie estimator you should be aware that they (like many treadmills) tend to over-estimate the calories burned.
Have fun!0 -
Spend a lot of time on bike; eat fewer calories than you burn each day, you'll lose weight and improve fitness.
Personally I'd rather ride (or run) outside myself. Same benefit, changing scenery!0 -
I'd much rather be outside too and I am a lot. I walk 5 to 6 miles a day. But winter is coming soon so I was looking for something I can do inside when it's dark out. I will continue to walk 2 miles at lunch, no matter what the weather.0

So, I went to a garage sale and bought an Airwaves Exercise bike. Does anyone have any experience with one of these?0
