So, im on the C25K thingy, and im rather sceptical about whether i will loose weight running.
I trying to fit other things in, but im not committing myself to anything else but the c25k.
Does anyone have any before or after from c25k, or any from before and after starting jogging? Just to inspire me that its not just about getting all hot and sweaty, but that I WILL see results!? Thanks in advance

I don't have pics but I do know that I lost an inch in each of my thighs and my waist in the first 4 weeks. I am on week six now and know that my thighs are more muscluar than before I started.0

I'm doing more than just C25K, so I can't say what kind of loss is directly attributable. However, I can say my fitness level is much better. I always had a lot of stamina for spinning, aerobics, etc., but could never run. Now, every time I go out, it is easier. Though, the dreaded W5D3 is on the schedule for tonight! :noway:0

I did weight training here and there, but running was the main reason I was able to lose so much weight. The key is to be consistent! I was probably running at least 2 miles a day monday-thursday for a few months - with additional walking. You can add me as a friend to look under my pictures if you want because I'm not sure how to load them on here.
When i got down to 155ish is when I really started weight training more consistently. SO point of the story - at least 20 pounds was credited mostly to running.0 -

Thanks for everyones replies.
Measurements are good too, im hoping to loose some inches from my thighs so nice to hear it does work!
Thanks for the friend add and links to piccies - very inspiring!! IT works!!0 -
Pretty much the only exercise that I have been doing since starting MFP last year is running. First pic is from my first 5K at the beginning of October 2010. I was just under 200 lbs at the time.
Second pic is from last week just before heading out of my apartment to complete my 6th 5K. Current weight is 180 lbs (wish it was less, but still working on that!)
Best of luck to you!!!0 -
Hey 48,
I am NOT a runner but I love C25K!!! I started a few weeks ago and my legs feel great!! I can run 5 min staight now which is so cool and something I've never done before. I can see the fatty fat coming off of my legs and thighs - I think I'm even developing a calf! I wish I did some before pics and measurements but I didn't.
I'm also doing the 30 day shred and Jilian is kicking my butt. It's great too!!0 -
I started C25K in Jan, completed it, and continue to run.
Here is a progress picture thread that I posted:

It HAS helped your bum! Just the right sort of inspiration i personally need, as I have a squishy bum and horrid thick thighs, so there is hope that my bum can become firm too now! Yay!!
PS, Well done, i hope i can keep up the running too.0 -
I don't really have any photos before I started C25K but I dropped 4.5 pounds since I started on April 25th and according to my body fat meter it's been fat loss. I'm starting to see a difference in the way my legs look. I've never liked my legs and I have a long way to go but I can tell it's making a difference. I also did my first 5K last weekend and just the sense of accomplishment of finishing was worth it.0

Another plus to running the only real thing you need is a good pair of shoes.0

I don't have pics, but doing C25K has DEFINITELY helped me lose weight. It has HELPED...I also do strength training and eat better. I never finished C25K but I am still running. I'm starting to enjoy it more and I can run 20-25 minutes straight. Something I never thought I'd be able to do. I've lost 34 lbs since Jan.0

Love this post! I think I've always said "I'm not a runner" yet I'm doing C25K, lol.0

I'm on week 7 & I haven't lost as much weight as I would have wanted. But, I'm happy because I've lost inches all over (I was always scared of having loose skin). I'm actually swimming in my clothes. People have noticed that I look slimmer too. Also, I lift weights (like up to 20lbs sometimes). I have now added morning workouts as well, now that I'm fitter, in order to speed up my weightloss.0

Ok now I am convinced I am gonna start running!! :P Great results.0 -
Definitely convinced. My butt so needs help.. And your butt is just wow.. Started the 30 day shred this week. Might just start the C25k next week and do the two together.
Have started C25K twice now, but feel like I don't progress - find it so so hard to run for 1 minute.. But having got through Day 3 Level 1 on the Shred and finding that I actually did see that I was better able for it has given me some hope!!
I want your butt - so I'm motivited already!!
You're looking fab!! Well done.. And thank you for the motiviation!!0 -

Just keep it up, and dont be afraid to repeat a week if you need to! Its not about doing it in 9 weeks, about getting u up and about and aiming for that continuous 5k! I struggled so badly on my first week. I wasnt a runner at all. I kept at it, and now im on week 3, and at the beginning of each week i think "Oh god, look how long i have to run for now" and yet i pretty much end up doing it and then im like "how the hell did i do that? I couldnt have done that last week!"
So basically my advice is keep at it, and just think of how good your butt will look!!0 -

I am about half-way through the program and am feeling much better! I'm doing the 30 Day Shred as well so not sure which has helped most, but I've lost 17 pounds! No pics though.... I'll see if I can find some when I totally done with the program.0 -

If I can do it, anyone can! My entire life I HATED running and avoided it at all cost. For whatever reason I decided I wanted to give it a try about a year ago, and was doing it on my own - run as far as you can until you think you're going to die and then take a walk break and repeat for 45 minutes. That did NOT work, and I quickly gave it up... not to mention having to take a week off between every run because I was so sore I could barely walk.
So, back in Feb I heard about this C25K thing and started. I didn't find it too hard, surprisingly, until about week 3. Then I started taking very long breaks between runs because life got in the way (and I probably subconsciously thought I couldn't actually finish it anyway). BUT, I picked it back up this week and finished the big jump to 20 minutes straight on the first try last night - in the middle of a thunderstorm!! On to week 6 I go... healthier and happier!0 -
Here are my results from running. I couldn't run more than 3 min when I first started. Now I am running 15-25 miles a week!!!
