Weight GAIN

I know, totally out of place!
I am successful because i gained 15 lbs.
Let me give you some background: I was anorexic/bulemic for almost ten years. I made a serving of saltine crackers last two days and if i ate more than that, i either ran miles and miles late at night or did cardio until i blacked out. My whole world revolved around when i could chug my next energy drink or cup of coffee (you think YOU'RE addicted to caffiene? I had energy gum and SOAP. WHO DOES THAT?). I was consuming enough of the stuff to take down a bull elephant. I was always grouchy, and "normal" for me was to shake so hard people thought i was having a seizure. At my own high school graduation (i was 50 people behind the first to walk in a class of 80...didn't take long) i had to sit down in the hallway while waiting to walk because i just couldn't hold myself up (agaisnt a wall) anymore. My grad party was with family at a pizza place. I ate the cheese off the top of two slices and threw up in the parking lot afterwards, because i felt like a pig.
I tried working out seriously, but because of my lack of food i never could do much.
I finally realized when my mom (Nukebhs83) went to the hospital that we had to stop.
I weigh 107.5 now and can curl 40lb dumbells and do 15 pullups with a 40 lb weight vest on (look, ma-not feet on the bar!)
Success doesn't always have to be counted in pounds lost, because i am proud of the weight i hav egained!

I am so very proud of you! I have a friend that struggles with her eating all the time, so I know how exhausting and difficult that can be. I also know that people can be very cruel and not realize that it is equally hard for people struggling with being under weight, and it's not just over weight people that need the support and love. Congrats on getting your life turned around very happy to hear of your achievements!0

Not at all out of place! YAY YOU! I'm happy for you, and you definitely should be proud of yourself. Eating disorders are a HUGE hurdle, and you are well on your way to recovery! GO YOU!
And to her mom: don't feel guilty about not noticing. Feel proud that you are so supportive NOW. You seem like you really care about your daughter, and that unfortunately doesn't happen often enough. I hope I can be so supportive of my children as they grow up. :flowerforyou:0 -
WTG ...to both you and your mom!0

To Kelsi, BRAVO!! I am giving you a standing ovation for your success! I, too, have overcome anorexia and bulimia...to quote Joe Biden, "this is a big f'ing deal!" Congratulations a million times over for being HEALTHY. It feels good, doesn't it?
To Kelsi's mom: Don't beat yourself up. Even if you had seen it (my parents didn't until I was very, very sick), telling her how worried and scared you were may only have fuelled the fire. It's part of the illness - when a person with an eating disorder is told "Wow, you're looking really skinny", s/he often hears it as a compliment and tries even harder to lose weight. I know I did. Bony frames, ribs poking out - those can be hidden with clothes. People with eating disorders have many, many strategies to hide it from even the most caring and watchful of families. It's a scary, scary illness and you have nothing to feel guilty about.0 -
That is soooo awesome!! Congratulations on a much healthier YOU!!0
-
Good job! You should be proud of yourself! Taking control of your life and making healthy choices is what is all about - no matter if that means you need to loose or gain! Keep up the good work.0

I teared up a little reading your post. Congratulations on your weight gain and your journey to being a healthier person. It's all about being strong and healthy and happy. Even though I don't know you, I am proud of you and happy for you! I don't know what it's like to be anorexic or bulimic, but I certainly do know what it feels like to feel like food is the only thing you can control and then suddenly, have it be the thing that's controlling YOU.
I love MFP because it's easy to find support here. Know that I support you and am rooting for you!0 -
What an AMAZING story! You keep it up girl...you've come so far and doing well!!!0

Thanks for sharing. It's great to see people's lives being turned round and their bodies brought into the 'healthy' category, from above or below.
P.S. I do think I'm addicted to caffeine, yes  well, recently I've been making an effort to cut down...0 -

GREAT JOB!!! It is SO hard to overcome those body issues! And this is such a good way of reminding everyone that this sight is about FITNESS not just losing weight! Good for you that's so awesome! :flowerforyou:0

Congratulations! You should be proud of the progress you've made. That is wonderful. Keep remembering that it's all about being healthy. WTG!0
