has anyone out there done Paleolithic? I went to my Dr today, she told me to cut carbs and sugar due to slow response metabolism from the big M. Menopause. I was reading a bit about it and it "sounds" good but I just don't know.

Yep I did it. I worked well for me for a time, but I eventually realized I didn't need to cut all of those things our forever. Like beans and ALL dairy. I suggest doing the Whole30 (stictly paleo for 30 days) and see how your body responds. Then slowly incorporate certain foods back into your diet, one at a time. I found out from paleo that corn really bothers me, so I limit that. But I also found out that I'm fine with yogurt and beans and I have have bread in moderation. Paleo isn't terrible, it's just about making it work for you.
Fats and protein sustain my energy way longer than carbs, and I am so happy that paleo showed me that. Cured my issue with hypoglycemia0 -

Good luck! (and consider joining the menopause group here!!)0 -
Paleo is not necessarily low carb, though people who eat paleo do appear to eat fewer carbs than most people - paleo is a good tool to use when wanting to eat low carb.
I am very LCHF but I eat cheese and cream which are not paleo foods. Beyond that, it looks like a god way to eat.
There is a paleo group you could go to for more info. There is also the Low Carber Daily group which has many people doing various forms of a low carb diet.

If it was me, I'd ask my doctor how much carbs and sugar I should eat, and then just do that, and reassess in a few months depending on my health.
I wouldn't complicate things by trying to follow the diet that is different according to any person you ask about it.
Best wishes with the big M!0 -
I just love paleo. It's the best diet I have ever tried. I lost weight, and feel so much better and healthier. And the meals don't suck,
like in most diets.
I'm using the paleo grub cookbook, you can check it out at http://lookingupstuff.com/weightloss/2015/04/23/paleo-grubs/0 -
I did Paleo for a little while and I loved it! However, I fell into the common trap of thinking I could eat as much as I wanted, since I was eating strictly Paleo. In the end, I felt better and performed better but realized even on Paleo it still comes down to calories in / calories out. Now I eat a modified paleo nutrition plan. Yeah... I hate labels too but I don't know what else to call it.0

Paleo is great and works. Just make sure it is sustainable for you. I missed bread and some other carbs so it was not sustainable for me.0
