I find that whenever I use the app I start to obsess over my calories more and actually gain more weight. Has anyone else experienced this? Have you found any ways to beat this weird slump? Please share your tricks and tips!!

I just prelog my food and stay under goal. I don't need to think much about it after a few months. I have lots of preset meals in MFP.

Maybe that's what I need to do. I keep inputting every little thing. It's getting exhausting. Thanks for the tip!

You can copy over your previous meals from earlier days. I also nibble less because I don't want to log a bunch of little things. It gets faster and faster, just stay under. That helps me see how valuable it is.

I get burnt out sometimes on having to do so much math just to eat one meal, so I keep premade food with all the calories already counted around to help combat that. You could either buy premade food from the store for this (which is what I do) or when you're feeling really motivated you could cook and freeze your own pre-counted meals.

Click on "more" or the three dots next to a meal. It should take you to an area that lets you copy meals.

This is really interesting OP. It shows how different people are. MFP is like an awesome life-raft to me. Whenever I am logging I feel in control because before I take a bite of anything I plan to eat, I log it, so there are never any surprises calorie-wise, even on days where I live off pudding. I know upfront how much pudding I can have and that is what I dish into my bowl. The obsessing and the stressing only kicks in if I try to eat it first and work it out later - that feels like a horrible form of russian food roulette.

Do you log when you go over? I find that is key for me. I log every moment, because when it is difficult to log it, I find that it acts as a deterrent. It is awkward to log that I ate 11 slices of salami. People will see it. I do it anyway, because next time I want to do something similar I remember what it felt like to log it.

It feels good to log better choices and it feels like a fun game to fit all my crazy choices into my calorie allowance.

My choices are still crazy. I am not a virtuous eater, but I am still losing and I am learning to cope better.
