Has anyone read this book or used the program? A friend of mine was telling me about it and said she's lost 21 pound sin 6 weeks. I'm always leery of the "diets" that say "Eat right for 5 days, then binge for 2."
Opinions?

I read it a few months ago. It has a lot of the same information about how we eat too much processed food.
That is why I stick with Longhorn cattle as you can tell from my profile pic!!!0 -
If you eat right you can eat a lot everyday.0

Ive read the book. I love Jackie Warner and have 3 of her dvd's as well. And she doesnt say eat right for five days and binge for 2....she allows you to have 2 cheat MEALS a week as long as they are not over 1500 calories.0

Exactly!
Besides, binging on junk twice a week can't be all that healthy.0 -
Add some fruit and veggies to your diet, and you'll be amazed at how much you can eat. Burning more calories than you take into your body is the only solution to America's weight-loss. This means you have to reduce the amount of calories you're putting into your mouth daily, increase your physical activity, and learn to maintain your optimum weight once you've hit your goal.0

I've read the book.
I didn't follow the book exactly but the first week or so i did with the supplements, oatmeal etc and I lost weight by adding those foods and not changing anything else.
But really if you get the basis of the book and eat cleaner etc you'll lose with exercise.
I wrote notes down regarding certain foods etc and follow that.0 -
I haven't read the book but I'm leary of any "diet" unless it says to eat healthy and exercise on a regular basis. There is plenty of science to tell us what's good for us. Looking for ways around it has never made sense to me.0

It's definately not a 'diet' book. Its a way of life book. She stresses healthy eating and exercise. Its a good book.0

I don't understand why anyone would need the book then. I mean who doesn't know that they need to eat heatlhy and exercise? Whether they do it or not, who doesn't know that they need to and how?0 -

You would be surprised...not only that but a large amount of people dont realize that that salad they are ordering from Applebees has more calories than a burger and fries. In this book she breaks down the science of things and gives you reciepes and exercise programs. I spent 11.99 on it for my Kindle and even though I already knew what she was teaching, I still think it was a great buy. For a beginner who doesnt know what foods to choose and how much and what type of exercises to do, this book is really great.0 -
She doesn't tell you to binge on junk or have a free day and eat Big Macs all day. She tells you that you can have a cheat MEAL not to exceed 1500 cal. So 1 day out of the week you go out to dinner for fab italian and have a drink and dessert... most of us do that anyway when we stick to our mpf. Its basically a tool to remind your body that your not starving it and also to keep you on track. Think about it: if you have a diet where you cant splurge at all you're more likely to get frustrated and give up, but if you know you get to have a free meal you might tell yourself during the week 'well yes i could have this cake/drink/ice cream/ravioli now and screw up my day or I can wait until my free meal. Knowing that you have a free meal ahead helps you stick to your daily goals better. I have a free day every week and i've lost 31lbs and I'm sure its because i dream of all the billions of calories and delish food i will gorge on when my free day gets here and by the time the free day actually shows up I usually eat pretty normal but will have a big dinner or a dessert that night but nothing like the mayhem I had planned. Most importantly she gets you to eat clean food and foods that make your body more efficient. Also, its pretty fab for people who don't cook.
Side note: I love her work outs!!! they honestly work EVERY muscle... I like power circuit training the best.0 -

I whole heartedly agree with this. I allow myself 1 cheat meal or dessert a week (reasonable, i don't gorge) and I am doing great on my plan. I've found the restrictive diets work for me for all of a month before I go crazy and binge on everything I haven't let myself eat. We have to enjoy life and food, otherwise whats the point?0 -

I must say that is surprising to me. I realize there is a lot of misinformation from people trying to sell (push) this fad diet, diet pill, book, video, "life plan", etc. But it all really just comes down to what you should have learned as a child. Eat your vegetables and go out and play. Or maybe kids aren't taught that anymore.0 -

Yes kids SHOULD be taught this. But the sad truth is many kids are NOT being taught that anymore. That's why we have an obesity epidemic. Some kid's are taught that it's OK to not eat ANY vegetable (except french fries)- that fruit juice and sugar laben drinks are fine - all day long. Back in my day - we drank water (gasp!) when we were thirsty.
"Cheat meals" help bring real life into focus. Someday I hope to NOT be on a diet. "Cheat meals" - Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc. are part of everyday living. I have to learn how to "budget" for these meals sometime.0
