I started my journey July 20th. I have lost 20 pounds, 6.5 inches, and almost running 2 miles without stopping. Go me! But recently I experienced a 10 pound weight gain!! WTH. Of course Im thinking fluid or menstrual but 2 weeks later and its only come down 5. How does that happen? I do not hv any visible swelling in ankles, etc and this certainly doesnt happen every month. A pound or 2, sure. But 10?? I sound crazy. Someone help me understand please.

This happens to lots of people. Sometimes you need to adjust your plan, sometimes you need to change up your exercise routine. Also take a look at your measuring, maybe you weren't as careful as you thought one week.
Weightloss journeys are not a straight line, there will be set backs and adjustments need to be made at times. You are on the right track, don't get discouraged, just see what you can change.
FYI, also sometimes you need a week off exercise or a couple days break. your body tells you what you need, but it takes time to learn to listen.0 -

I came back to MFP after this so I can start paying closer attention to what Im eating. I have had 1 and 2 pound gains all along, but this just seemed so extreme. Thanks for answering0 -
Hello! It looks like you have hit a plateau and need to change up your routine some. Our bodies are set to do this. You may want to add some weight training to your routine, cut back on some of the running and do something else for cardio. Home workouts, a local gym, there is variety everywhere. As the other person commented, taking a short time off is a gift to your body. It needs time to heal. But stay on track with the diet on your days off too. Sometimes we take a few days off exercise and eat poorly and then it's a double whammy to get back on track a few days later. I've learned that one the hard way. Don't give up, you're doing great! you got this!
