No more diet soda!

I have given up aspartame. I have also gave up all diet soda. I am wanting ideals on drinks. I get so tired of water. I really do not like juices and tea, I can tolerate tea but still wish I could find something without aspartame that I like. We are about to head into a bad winter and I will be so tempted to fill up on food so I like to sip things to keep me full since I stay home. I drink quit a bit coffee in the mornings and I have flavoring for that but I do not want to drink coffee all day long.

I think you eliminated every thing but water and coffee0

Aspartame is not the cause of your problems. Giving it up won't solve them.0

Try different flavors of tea and chill it? I get fruity teas (like hibiscus apple or ginger peach) and make it and chill it. I've never added sugar to tea and don't to these.
(I am fine with diet sodas too, though.)0 -
Beer?0

Personally, giving up diet pop is not something I have any desire to do. Being able to drink diet pop gives me just that bit of sweetness in my day so that I don't feel like I need to go for sweet snacks.
However, if this is indeed something you want to do ...
-- try various teas. I am not a huge fan of black tea ... it is too bitter for me. Green tea is marginally better. Most herbal teas I've tried, I haven't liked. But then I stumbled on rooibos tea! That is nice. There are a few different kinds and some are better than others ... I like a Rooibos Chai tea the best. That spurred me on to try some other kinds of tea, and I discovered that I like lemon ginger tea as well. So I alternate between the two.
-- look for Crystal Light or similar flavouring for water. In Canada they come in tiny little bottles now, they used to be in little packets called "singles". Read the labels, most don't contain aspartame anymore.

Agree aspartame is probably not your problem (unless you were born with PKU, but in that case I doubt you'd ever have started with it).
Also, you can find diet sodas that don't use aspartame. Pepsi One or Diet Coke with Splenda, for example, use sucralose and acesulfame potassium as sweeteners.0 -
Milk? Scotch? Tea with sugar? Tea with honey?
Cup of soup? Water with a slice of lemon or other fruits?
Is aspartame in any of the above things I listed?0 -
I couldn't do it. I love my diet soda... The sweet, bubbly, icy cold... Yum.
When I'm not drinking soda, I drink black coffee.
You could try infusing water with lemon or lime or orange slices.
I went to a bridal shower and there was pear and cinnamon infused water - that was actually really good.0 -
I switched to seltzer....you get the bubbles without artificial or caloric sweeteners.0

Carbonated water with lime is my favourite. Lots of herbal teas out there you can try.0

When's it's warm outside, I enjoy sparking water like Perrier, though there are some brands that have flavorings, though they tend to be with artificial sweetners.
There is this amazing tea that I use to get from a natural food restaurant called "Good Earth." Restaurant closed but Trader Jo's offers it. It has these herbs in it, and basically it's kind of spicy and sweet at the same time. No addeded sweetners and you don't need to add sugar. Simply divine.0 -
I do sparkling water. Sometimes I use MIO to flavor it. But, Perrier favored waters and la croix is very tasty and no sweetener. It's how I eliminated soda.0

Vodka ???
Lol!
There's nothing wrong with having a diet soda in moderation. I enjoy a diet coke when ever I go out for dinner.0 -
Try flavoring your water0

I mix 250ml cranberry juice in my 1.25L water bottle. It makes plain water a bit more exciting, plus you get a bit of sweetness.
I try to avoid aspartame too.0 -
I really like sparkling water with ice and lemon. I'm not a big juice drinker either, but I do like juicy water, one part orange juice to two parts water.
How about squash? Or elderflower cordial with sparkling water? Some of the posh squashes are really nice and not too sweet.

I have given up my diet soda in the past when I fell for all of the hype. It did nothing for me. I didn't feel better, I didn't magically lose weight. Nada. I just really, really missed my soda.0

(I won't have sweetener in the house. My kids think I'm evil for banning Fruit Shoots)0

Herbal or fruit tea?0

Hmm, those look tasty. That's basically what I do myself with different kinds of tea--I like combining flavors.0 -
Sorry, after a bit of Googling, I've realised that squash seems to be peculiarly British. The rest of the world is missing out.0

I drink 1 - 2 diet sodas per day and have been doing so since I started on MFP. I have continued to lose weight at exactly the rate MFP predicts, with seemingly no detriment presented by the diet soda. Additionally, I think most people here will tell you that the hatred for aspartame is largely based on misinformation.
If you're wanting to give it up just because, that's fine, but don't expect some amazing benefits from stopping drinking diet soda.0 -

If you really want to avoid aspartame and other artificial sweeteners, I recommend natural sweeteners like stevia. You can find it in grocery stores right next to the Splenda and other sweeteners or in the natural foods section. There are also "diet" sodas that are sweetened naturally (i.e. Stevia zero calorie soda)0

Look up green tea X50, they come in sachets, have less than a gram of sugar and they have heap of yummy flavours like peach, tropical, raspberry and normal! Each sachet only has 10 calories and it's meant to boost your energy levels and help with metabolism because of the green tea0

I throw a flavored green tea bag in my water bottle. Lipton orange, passion fruit and jasmine is good.0
-
I too like carbonated water with some lime.
Zevia is a stevia sweetened soda that my kids like. No aspartame and no sguar beyond a bit of sugar alcohol. http://www.zevia.com/0
